My S8 is turning on the "automatic date and time" even though I manually keep it off.

This started in June. I noticed that it did not happen when in airplane mode. Otherwise, it turns itself back to automatic regularly.

Is your S8 locked (carrier branded) or unlocked (non-carrier branded)?

If yes, which carrier?

I have the Verizon S8+ and when I set my date and time to manual, turn on airplane mode, then turn off airplane mode, it still is set to manual.

I turn it to manual and it switches back to automatic when in cell service.

I had turned to airplane mode on a trip and noticed that it didn't turn back to automatic during that time so I am inferring that it is related to cell service.

How can I stop it from turning back to automatic?
