My theroy of why the V20 release date not announced

First off.. with the v10.... IMO was the most underrated smartphone in 2015. Even some of the top competitor review companies didn't even give it a score rating which I found odd. As a professional photographer and cinematographer, the quality and features Combined of the camera for that year's release is unmatched, especially in the cinematography department with the Cinematic 24p mode! Was tired of using Filmic Pro, that was best suited for an iPhone and only had half the features working for some of my other android phones such as the s7 edge or when I had the note 7. On top of that, the audio recording and output was amazing. I have the Blue Microphone MoFi's with the built in Amp that allows you to not have an external DAC rubber-banded to your smartphone in order to get the most out of your expensive headphones that more than 50% of buyers don't realize that they are not getting the absolute best potential in sound/soundstage/bass/treble/etc.. from their headphones without an amplifier/DAC. The V10 changed the game with that (though some other companies may have tried it before but not as powerful or fine tuned as the V10) and gave me wonderful sounding audio on my long weekend drives to and back home for work which totaled 4-5 hours.

NOW with the V20.. and it's "i-don't-know-what-the-H-is-taking-them-so-long-approach" release...... The LG V20 is a well thought out and amazing upgrade! yah there are some quibbles about screen choice, lack of front facing speakers on a highly acclaimed top notch audio converting/recording/sounding phone, battery mah small increase, not waterproof or water resistant, Lack of Dual Pixel Phase Detection Autofocus like the Galaxy Line (that may be exclusively patent pending to Samsung) etc.. but when you weigh out the pros and cons against the competition.. the Pros outweigh the cons.. and i feel LG is playing the marketing game smart by giving soooo many Pre-Production Review Units to be reviewed by many of the top smartphone reviewers/vloggers/bloggers in the industry even after their first Official Apple-Esque style Launch that also took place in San Francisco 1 day before the iPhone 7 and until recently without an official release date for weeks... though LG has received heavy criticism for not taking advantage of the recent downfall of Samsung and their flagship Note 7 Worldwide recall... they looked passed it because they BELIEVE in their product and are entertaining a Niche market. I believe all the reviewers are giving LG all the right feedback they need to finalize and correct as much of the negative feedback they can that is possible in order to have a very well planned out release. Many people will disagree with me.. but sometimes.. you need to take a step back.. put yourselves in their shoes.. and see it from another standpoint. Good Job LG! They say "You want what you can't have!" and you guys' are definitely making many want the LG more by keeping us on our toes.. well at least for me you are!
Good analysis but the more correct way would've been to give reviewers preview units before the announcement. Hold off on the announcement until all dates, prices and carrier terms are worked out. Then announce the V20 with all that information available. And then you release the phone within a timely manner. LG did it backwards is all.

No one cares about that phone and no one gets excited, because it was announced and forgotten, LG did not make much noise out of it, if it was speical then LG did fail to "shove" it down to our noses.

Almost no one knows about that phone, unless you really search for new phones that should come out soon, a bit of shame since i really wonder when we gonna see that phone in action.

Returned my Note 7. Bored now. Don't even have a release date of V20let alone a price. Note 7 available again. iPhone 7+ available. Doubt I'll wait.

I can't agree with you more. I think they are waiting on the release because they want to make sure it leaves the factory in tip-top shape. I've thought about that a lot in my mind and finally typed it out in another thread here. I think that's better than what happened with the G5 where there were numerous reports of light bleed and alignment issues with the chin piece. People waited weeks for the second line of phones to be released with the issues mostly ironed out (me included). I'd rather wait and have a great phone from day one instead of waiting while everyone buys out the faulty units and the fixed phones hit the stores.

I have no idea why they are waiting. I will say I disagree that they are hiding a bootloop issue. I wish they would announced the release date and price.

I'm currently on my replacement G4 since my first one went to a bootlooping early grave. Because of the bootlooping issue, I seriously considered getting a Note 7, but I was concerned about finding a tempered glass screen protector that would stay on the screen. I'm really worried that I would drop it and crack the screen even though I barely drop phones. I had an iPhone 6Plus because I lost a bet with my wife. That phone was nice, but the operating system was so infuriating I couldn't get back to Android fast enough. I just like what LG does with their phones so I'm looking forward to getting the V20.

I believe the only reason for the delay and it's not really a delay but the non- specific release date is Nougat related. LG could not give a date because they will Not be the first out of the gate with Nougat. IMHO

thanks RaRa85!

I don't think there is an actual "more correct" way of how to market/announce/preview/officially release their phone since everything in sales is really subjective. LG may have taken the v20's marketing approach "backwards" versus a non-traditional process that many have been doing it for years for a reason that we will not know for sure until they really spill the beans out of the bag. LG is a Tech Giant with a LOT of money to have some of the absolute best on their team, just like Samsung, and Apple. However, doesn't mean their approach will always be right in the eyes of consumers but I feel they are studying the market as best as possible to avoid post release problems such as Samsung's battery Issue and Apple's Hissing Issue where no pre-production units were given for preview before launch. Giving pre-production units earlier then the actual official announcement, LG may have felt would allow other companies (such as the many smaller up and rising companies like the One Plus 3, Axon, etc...) to piggy-back off their design. LG is trying their best to make a name for themselves, be different, start trends, and make themselves standout to a niche market. (Such as their Top of the Line Hi-Fi Audio Recording/Playback) By having the competition bring out the NEW products which smartphones nowadays are coming to a slight dead end with features, quality, and costs will start being the same or drop down in price, maybe LG decided to see all the NEW official releases, and finalize their V20 to be "BETTER NEW" than what we would assume to expect. Hopefully, LG is coming out with a surprise on fine tuning their product before the official release. (I hope they will fine tune White Balance on the LG V20 Display to come close to the majority of professional photographers & cinematographers market).

You're welcome. I guess fine tuning their displays would be nice. I personally love their displays even though the amoled screens are much prettier to look at. That would be a welcomed surprise. The kicker is that LG is still trading a phone they already launched.👀 Why? If you don't have the info and consumers are constantly asking for release and pricing info, and you have emailed the people at all who signed up for "early" info about the V20 why not just wait until you actually have something new to tell us and then market the heck out of it? They're making consumers less likely to wait around for the phone when they market this way and Samsung has some nice deals on the S7/Edge on T-Mobile.(I mean a 256gb sd card or VR headset is a really sweet deal) Even I'm considering that deal and if I did upgrade it would be more on the principle of LG really screwing up this launch and not because I didn't really want the V20. I'm not begging for the phone to Be released next week. All I'm saying(and everyone else on social media) is give us the information we should have with the official launch of a flagship.

Because the Note 7 overall performance is not smooth to my liking. It lags at times, the OS feels bloated and the audio volume and quality is sub.par for a phone priced this high. This phone is definitely not worth $850. My friend Axon 7 is a lot smoother than mines and audio quality is miles better lol its embarrassing.

The Note 7 is a good phone but it's not for me and it's definitely not worth $850 before tax!!

I agree! The V10 was vastly underrated when it was released and it is still a great device. I got into a discussion with a rep at T-Mobile about the difference between the N7 and V10 and just said that everything the N7 has the V10 did 1st i.e 64gb base storage anf micro sd card support and still a removable battery. That alone was one of the reasons I skipped the N5.

Did you get a replacement N7? Even media folks are pointing out for whatever reason the replacement Notes are very and even better battery life. My first Note was good (for Android), but for whatever reason the new one is faster and less Android induced lag events. I have the Verizon version BTW, that has not even received the performance update that ATT and TMo got.

That said, if the OS is an issue for you and lag events- Android is what it is. If price concern, The V20 is apparently going to be $800 with it's own strength and weaknesses.

Nope and don't plan on to either. I got the latest update installed and the battery life has gotten better but overall I'm not satisfied with the phone. My Nexus 6 prior to this phone was lag free and was way smoother so it's not an Android issue but the Samsung skin on top of it. Touch wiz has come along aways but it's still not as smooth to my liking.

I doubt the V20 will be $800. So far from the videos I have watched the V20 performs way smoother than the Note 7 and the screen looks great to me as well. Can't wait to get some hands-on time with the final device.

Even though I hate to admit it.. I think the leaked October 21st date will be the release date.

I work for a company that makes tech equipment, primarily used by business. When we announce a new product, we have agreements with our distributors, that we have to take back the previous models sold within a certain timeframe, if they want. This is because new product announcements, limit their ability to sell the old model. However, discounts and price differences usually allow them to sell the old models. I wonder how announcing a product and giving absolutely no purchase date or price effects LG's sales. I have to think it must really hurt sales.

I have a note 5 and I have pretty much no lag. I like LG phones but I am hesitant of there phones because of the bootloop issue they seem to be having.

Most OEMs announce phones wrong.

If you're going to take the time to formally announce the product, let everyone know how much it will cost and when it will be available.
