Does the theme explicitly state that you can use it for AOKP M4?

If so, did you do any wipes beforehand--namely cache and dalvik?

Yes and yes. I flashed natemodz from rootz and i did a total wipe before. I tried from rom manager and from recovery and neither worked.

That's a pickle, then. If they're for M4, you should have no problem flashing them. Did you make a backup/nandroid?

My suggestion--start over, wipe the whole bloody thing, and flash anew. If it still doesn't work, then I have no idea. But if you're flashing an M4 theme it should absolutely work unless something is corrupted.

Yes i have a backup. Do you mean flash AOKP again and then flash the theme?

Yup. If the theme is compatible with M4, there's no reason you should be stuck in a bootloop unless

(1) Something went awry and something is corrupt
(2) It turns out you're not on M4 or the theme isn't really compatible

Sounds to me like something went wrong. If you're trying multiple themes, that only lends credence to that. Wipe the phone clean and try again. Sorta sucks, but it takes away a lot of doubt/ghosts in the machine.

There were a couple of times i got to the startup but different processes stopped and i couldnt get any farther.

Yeah it makes no sense and it would be better just to make sure everything is clean/wiped.

Remember, with themes ==>

(1) Absolutely, 100% make sure it's for your rom and your version of the rom (M4, B34, etc.)

(2) Always have an exit plan, may it be nandroid or an undo file.

OK i flashed aokp again. But it wont connect with google so my things arent downloading. Do i need to wipe again before i flash the theme? Sorry, just rooted this week so its all new to me.

Thanks

With themes, I always recommend wiping cache and dalvik, which is found in "Advanced."

Just flashed a couple of themes myself lol

Ok, i flashed aokp again and flashed the red theme and its stuck again. However, this time its stuck on the team kang animation intead of the grey android. Also i wasnt getting the blue signal bars so my contacts/apps wouldnt sync.

Did you do a factory reset?

(1) Wipe the phone - data/factory reset, cache, and dalvik
(2) Install AOKP
(3) Install GAPPS
(4) Reboot, set your stuff up
(5) Reboot into recovery, wipe cache/dalvik
(6) Install theme
(7) Reboot

Can you link me to the theme you're using? Is it one with known problems?

You could also install B34 and use the HOLO red theme, if that's what you're after.

Something's going wrong--either in the process or with the zips. Make sure to double check the latter, and as long as you slowly but carefully go through the above steps, you should be fine. If it continues screwing up then I have no idea lol.

What are the GAPPS? I dont think i installed those before.

You've never installed them? Oh boy.

Ok, here's what you need to do.

Go here ==> http://forum.aokp.co/page/releases/_/build-34-r19

Scroll down until you see "toro" - download that. This is B34, their latest release. If you want milestone 4, go here Milestone 4 - Releases - Releases - News, and do the same thing.

After downloading that file, scroll down further until you see "gapps." It's at the very bottom. If you want to use Build 34, download that gapps package on that page (its date is April 22, or 20120422). If you want to use Milestone 4, download that gapps package on that page (its date is March 4, or 20120304).

Put both on your SDcard. Reboot into recovery, either through the bootloader or ROM Manager.

Wipe data, cache, dalvik.
Install the AOKP zip (either M4 or B34, whichever you chose)
Install the GAPPS zip (either 3/04 or 4/22, based upon what AOKP version you chose)
Reboot system

Set up your Google account and let market restore do its thing.

For the theme ==>

Download the file for your rom. If it's M4, only download from links that say it's for M4 (make sure M4 is in the filename). If it's B34, then the same goes for B34 (make sure B34 is in the file name).

When you download it, place it on your SDcard, then go into recovery (either through the bootloader or through ROM Manager), wipe cache and dalvik, install the zip, then reboot. If you did exactly as I stated there should be no problems unless the files are corrupted.

Also, please read the guide in my signature if you're new and unfamiliar to any of these terms, concepts, etc. :)

Haha no i had them installed originally, i just forgot to do it a second ago when i flashed M4 again. Just had a brain freeze. Is there much difference in m4 and b34?

Yes. It's just generally more developed and very, very fast and slick.
