I recently purchased the Galaxy Note 8 SM-N950F/DS. I would like to change its CSC from UAE, to Canada. Would it be possible to flash it with an unbranded stock firmware, rather than branded, having bloatware. if so which one is recommended? I've tried to flash it several times using Fido's stock firmware, but ODIN keeps failing, with error messages to do with partition, etc. Ultimately I would like to setup and use Samsung Pay and Google Pay with my Canadian credit cards. At the moment it is impossible with UAE version.

Your help would be greatly appreciated.

Afaik, the Note you have is the Exynos version, and Canada's versions are Snapdragon, meaning their firmwares won't flash to the one you have. That's why it's failing. You would need to find a bloat free firmware that is compatible with the Exynos chipset.

Thank you for your response.

Would you know if there is or where could I possibly retrieve (preferably) an unbranded firmware that would work on Canada's wireless network that would be compatible with this phone which would allow me to install and use Samsung and Google Pay?

Is there a way to change the CSC from UAE to something else?

My suggestion would be to go to the Note 8 XDA forum. They'll be more helpful then what I can say.

You could simply do it without rooting / bricking your phone

I did this for Indian Carrier

If you're ready to reset the phone….you could make Samsung pay work in India.

1) Turn off the phone

2) Take out all sim cards

3) Press volume key + Bixby key + Power key and release once you see Samsung logo

4) Erase the phone.

5) Please note after this step do not reboot but shut it down. If you choose the option reboot, CSC will not change and Samsung pay won't work. So select power off option

6) Insert Indian sim card in slot 1 before starting the handset

7) Start the phone. This will now adapt to Indian CSC and Indian carrier settings

8) Bingo….you're all set with Samsung Pay for Indian Cards. ENJOY…..!!

You can check Knox count it will be 0x0 which means no rooting done and warranty stays alive....!!

Cheers
