Netflix offer ending.

I ordered on amazon last night and upon hearing this news came on ac to see what ppls comments were. My order was out of stock but I hope they still give me the 3 months netflix

Please note that the Netflix promotional offer (which was available in limited supply) has now ended. Customers who ordered their Chromecast prior to 5:31 PM PST on July 24, 2013 will receive a Netflix gift code via email within 5 days of their product's ship date.

I know for sure they were still listing the promo (at minimum) several hours after that time. I fear there will be some folks who think they are getting a code and may not.

250,000 codes? At $24 a pop ($8 x 3 months), that's only 6 million dollars at most... (edit.. not 2 million... bad math )

That's pretty cheap, considering the amount of publicity and possible new subscribers it will generate.

As for the Netflix offer.... I went back to the same Best Buy store that I bought
my first Chromecast today. Just before closing time, I bought one of the last
5 remaining Chromecasts. I figured I needed two Chromecasts. The free
Netflix code still printed out just fine. Perhaps Best Buy didn't get the memo?
Perhaps their cash registers don't get updated until midnight? I have no idea...
but I gave the 2nd Netflix code to my "in-laws" and it was accepted without
any problems.

If you are getting the code (from BestBuy.com) you will receive an email informing you that the content is ready. You then go to your digital locker to retrieve the code.

OK I ordered via play on day 1, and I thought they said the nextflix codes would be emailed when they shipped. Since I don't have the code does this mean I won't get one or will Google still honor their agreement.

I think where Google went wrong is with two major and concurrent mis-steps:

1. Offering three months when really one month probably would've enticed consumers enough (after all, the $35 price tag is very attractive in itself).

2. Opening up the offer to current subscribers too (like myself). They aren't generating any new revenue for Netflix that way because we already subscribe.

I ordered from Best Buy yesterday morning (7/25). It shipped today (7/26) and I also received an email when it shipped to download the code from the Best Buy digital locker. Applied to Netflix with no problems.

I got my promo code right after my Chromecast shipped, also order mine at 1:10 PM. Learn from the Nexus Q to order right away (all though it was probably for the best).

The offer counts for new and existing Netflix customers. Just FYI. I bought day one and ensured to read the Netflix deal and it said existing.. That was one of reasons I nabbed it on day one.

Just got off the phone with Google, they said since My order was a Day 1 order that I would get my codes emailed when the device ships. Rep was very specific in mentioning the exact time my ordered was placed so I don't know it that may factor into something.

At this point I fell confidant that those who ordered before midnight eastern should be getting codes.

Looks like in-store Best Buy's are still giving the code. Bought two this morning (7/26), got two codes. Employees told me some stores were still getting their initial shipments, although the majority of stores did already have them and already sold out.

That's the Play Store for you. After the 2012 Nexus 7 pre-order debacle, I just expect Google to mis-launch hardware, and I don't think I have been disappointed yet.
