if this is true, this is bad news....

it fixed google wallet... for sure... Im not sure what it did to google search, but now we cant choose what to search... because we could choose apps, contacts, maps, etc... now it just searches google... maybe to avoid an apple lawsuit?
edit. I just uploaded the file here. Just install the old .apk once you did your update and it should work

I remember reading the Galaxy Nexus would soon be loosing that functionality over an Apple lawsuit. I'm sick of these lawsuits that Apple is doing which is removing functionality from our phones.

This is HORRIBLE. I had my home button set up to search contacts, music and web. Now it will only search web. Is this for sure because of Apple? Or is there a possibility it can come back? I wish I never would have done this update. Fn RAGE FACE

Yes, due to Apple winning that patent case against Galaxy Nexus. It 'could' come back if they agree on some kind of deal....(money...)

Or you all could download the older build of the googlesearchbox.apk found in the above Update#2 thread and have your search functions restored, while at the same time showing Apple that spending their money to stop Android is wasting their money to stop Android.

You mean the one in post 41 of that thread. It's googlequicksearchbox.apk right?

Screw Apple. I'm pretty sure my Palm pre had that before they implemented it in their stupid iPhones. I don't understand how they are allowed to troll the patent world

Totally agree. It was pretty nice on the Pre. Apple is a big giant ****** bag of a company. I hope they burn to the ground.

Held off updating all day till I could check the forum... figured it was frackin apple crappola... based on improvements cited in a related thread I downloaded the apk, updated the phone and reinstalled the apk in less than a minute... android ROCKS as do it's smart contributors!!! :-*

WE HAVE A MAJOR PROBLEM

This stops working after a reboot and you have to install the file again for it to work

Only thing I can think of is to root and replace the system file with the old one...not sure though

any suggestions?

I'll test it .

Edit: Took me a while but moving the search app to the system folder worked but not as expected. It wouldnt overwrite the original file. Had to delete the original google search. Then copy the new file into the system folder. After that I clicked on the file and hit install. It came up with can't install. Rebooted into cwm. Fixed permissions and restarted. Now the search is working even after a reboot.
