OK. So curiosity got the better of me, and I actually placed an order for this phone. Red flags all over the place, of course. Not only the price, but the fact that the seller has a 100% rating based on all of 1 review from 2010!

So what do you figure I'm getting into here? A repackaged 6P that's already been RMA'd several times? A phone programmed to give somebody access to all of my passwords? Stolen merch? What?

I hope it's an actually new in unopened box 64 GB 6P.
I know, right? It's also supposed to have a US warranty!

Problem is, if this thing looks like a good new phone, I'm still gonna be afraid to set it up with my Google account.

Since it's a Nexus, you can boot it up, enable adb, enable unlocking the bootloader, flash stock official firmware, relock the bootloader, profit.

At least, assuming I can't get it x-rayed for alien hardware or Russian microchips.

If it isn't infested with ET goo, you going to use it or sell it or?

I'll use it if it's usable. I'm only interested in it because the 6P is eligible for 7.1.2 and O and my Nexus 6 isn't. So I'm naming Google as co-respondent or chief enabler if I end up in court. They got me hooked on their beta junk.

You could try it for a while with a dummy Google account. If the world doesn't end, then you can switch to your actual account.

Yeah. Assuming it actually turns on, I'll probably skip all the add an account/send feedack/backup prompts during set up and just see how it works first. And, of course, check it for any compromising pix of Putin or alien probing sessions.

I ordered one of these and Amazon canceled my order today. No explanation - just canceled.

hmm, that sucks. @quelquehomme did you receive yours?

Nope. Two days after I placed the order, the order was cancelled for "technical reasons," and the seller's name disappeared from the list.... only to be replaced by another listing at a slightly higher asking price from a different seller in New Jersey with an equally dodgy-looking rating based on reviews from 2010 or something.

Whoever was allegedly trying to sell the 6P for $259 apparently tried charging my Amazon card twice and got shot down both times. No doubt, for the best.
