I am starting to think these phones need a break-in period. After a few days on 2.2.3 I got awesome batt life again. Now I updated to .6 and boom.....the phone doesn't go to sleep again and huge partial wake locks by Android. I'm gonna give it a few days to see if it even out before doing a hard reset

I just broke all sorts of records for myself.. I just got 40 hours and 29 minutes of light to moderate usage on a Chinese battery.. The thing just went dead a few minutes ago.. I consider light to moderate usage being normal texting probably around 30 or so a day, on phone talking for 1-2 hours, and facebooking on the OLD 1.2 app.. My thing about all this is conditioning the batteries, I charge them fully with the Chinese charger, then run them fully dead leaving the phone on all the time. I read somewhere one time that even though this are Lithion batteries they still need to be discharged fully at times to allow for full charges. My BB which I used to get around 48 hours out of after I stopped conditioning the battery I was lucky to get 16 hours on...

i normally dont put mine on a charger until they hit 15% and even then I let them run down to like 10%. Around then you will see the phone starting to get sluggish.

Phone calls will bring batt down significantly. I can send a couple hundred texts a day with little effect on the battery.
That is damn good though if you are getting that life including 1-2hrs of phone per day.
Do you use speakerphone? or normal headset? Prob doesnt make a difference, just curious

I don't use anything other then the phone itself, no speaker phone just normal handset.. I was pretty shocked myself I got that long out of the charge.. The only other things I can attribute it to is the way I have Chronos shutting down WIFI and Bluetooth when it's not needed and turning them on when I do need them.. Other then that, Keeping an eye on apps that wreck havoc on the battery, the latest Facebook incarnations ALL eat the battery up, so I am using 1.2 I don't care that they say it is fixed, it's not I lost 8% battery life this morning and the phone was in a wake state for an hour after I installed the latest version, and the phone was sleeping. I don't have anything else running in the background that is not needed other then Mail Polling, weather polling, and Gmail.. Everything else is staying stock.. The only other thing I can attribute it to, is the FULLY charged batteries when they are put in. The built in Charger charges the battery to full then stops, when the battery drops below a certain point the charger turns back on. If you don't catch the charger right as the light turns green the battery will be anywhere from 90 to 100% charged, thus when I would take the phone off the charger in the AM within a half hour I would already be down to 90% That 10% charge means a lot especially during sleeping time with the phone, sleeping time I have estimated 10% battery life to equal at least 12 hours.. With the Chinese Charger I pull the battery off, put it in the phone and I am at 100%.. Sorry for rambling on and on about this..

I have been told by someone who has the EVO (still trying to get one myself) that he has noticed over the past few weeks that is battery life has improved. He claims that he has not changed how he uses the phone and believes that it is due to the battery "breaking in".

I hope he is right.

Okay folks. I seem to have a problem that has just popped up. I have everything turned off and all that goodness. I managed to get about 35hours of time out my battery. But now, something seems to be killing my battery. In about 4-5 hours my phone keeps dying (without me using it at all). It says that the Android system is using 100% of the battery. I just looked through everything this morning and nothing is on. Maybe I'm forgetting something? Hopefully my battery is not taking a ****...

Funny enough, I find that when I have my wifi running instead of 3G|4G, my battery doesn't drain nearly as quick.

Yesterday morning, I unplugged at 11:00 with a full charge and my battery lasted until 1:00 in the morning (when I finally decided to go to bed) with 20% remaining. That's a solid 14 hours. Pretty awesome!

Find out what apps are running. Settings>Applications>Manage Applications> Running Tab

I have purchased a 3500mah Seidio battery now battery life is not an issue no matter what is on or off on my EVO some say it makes the phone big and ugly I prefer to think of it as a hood scoop!

I realized widgets will kill batt lifetoo.
I did a Google search widget and started giving me wake locks again
Once I removed it. Life went back to normal

This is what I did to improve my battery life.

Drained the battery down to it almost shut off (5% power or less). I then charged it by connecting the charger cable to the USB port on my PC and not using the wall outlet. Did a full charge on the battery (it felt like it took forever, around 3-4 hours). After that I charge it like normal using the wall outlet. I am now getting an improvement of around 10-15% on battery life now.

I'm now just over 4 hours unplugged and still have 80% charge after moderate to heavy usage. This is good enough for me until a software update or a bettery battery comes along.

well i just wiped the phone completely and now i am almost at normal battery life. 2 hours of just a few texts and phone calls battery disappeared first bar. Now i downloaded swift keyboard and it automatically downloaded updates for fb and amazon mp3 and google maps. We shall see how it works. Normally i charge 100 percent and go to work keep it in the drawer until first break which is 830- sometimes 1030 by then its halfway thru battery. and the phone is super hot. Idk what is going on

If you put it in the drawer, leave it on airplane mode so not to be searching for towers.

Doubt I could get more than 12 hours of any kind of use. I bought the "cheapie batteries"on ebay (2) that come with a charger. The batteries are just as good as the red one that came with the phone - I've had them for two months now. and I carry a spare in a tiny bag along with my earbuds, other one in the charger. Works for me.

Just got the phone yesterday and today battery is almost dead after moderate use. Battery has been unplugged since 9 am and phone is almost dead around 4pm. This is not good, I need to be able to make through the day if this phone is gonna work for me. I did have 4g on and just turned it off.

Can anyone help me because I love the phone but the batter life is a major concern. Im also an android noob coming from a bb.

Well for my self its all about what I want running in the back ground and what network I want to use and what network is available wifi,3g, and 4g. I manage my notifications pretty while for what apps that are important to the ones that are not. My first time using the Evo my battery went dead pretty quick. I've only had the phone for about 3 days. 2nd day I got 14hrs of moderate use until about 10%. The next day and push a little harder and got 13hrs. Today I used 4g and my GPS for a bit while I was on the road. Also I had my live Droid X "Eye" wallpaper running the whole time. the last 6 hours was heavy usage from you tube to facebook to taking pictures, twittering, checking and reading all my news apps and watching alot of animal plant videos (sweet app) (Emails too) with no stand by time for the last 5hrs and got 13.5hrs until 5%. I charged the phone until 9am AM went back to sleep for about an hour then i woke up still at 100%. So for me im getting great battery usage for my little 1500mah battery. But at the end of the day it had been 13.5hrs since it was plugged up. I could get more out of it but im constantly using it.

ok, hit my last straw today...had it in the corner while at work in AIRPLANE MODE and battery went from 75% to 40% over 2.5 hours...have tried deleting apps, used task killer, stop task killer, battery monitor, no battery monitor, etc...doing a hard reset now, otherwise, may have to return this...all this started after the froyo update, battery was fine before.
