New Firmware Pushed This Morning

I've done as you have suggested and still no update. All I get is searching for available updates then the thing times out.

strange.
this is the way i got to it and still can get to. (on stock froyo and riding in 4G now).

They've probably stopped sending the update due to all the rebooting issues. They'll likely release another update within the next 6 months that will deliver this update as well as it's fixes.

I updated "successfully" yesterday afternoon. Now I am having issues with streaming to my bluetooth-enabled car stereo. As soon as I open Pandora, Radio.com, or even play an MP3 my Tbolt will say Bluetooth Headset (Headphones?) Disconnected. If I try to turn Bluetooth off and then back off it will lock my Tbolt. I will then get a Force Close message for HTC Sense or I am forced to shut down/reboot. I have also had random restarts.

I never had these issues prior to the update.:mad:

EEK! I use BT all the time but had not tested it yet. I so hope I dont run into the same issue! --Will report back after I try it

Well after the first day I can say that the update worked for me. Better GPS, although I dont use it all the much. No more constant switching between 1x and 3G in the office. It now normally stays in 1X which is fine by me so long as its not tearing through the battery.

Over all Im happy. Also its not just a 30mb Backup Assistant as the phone already had this.

If you are rooted, you shouldn't be trying the update anyway. You are asking for issues.

i am rooted and i didnt try to update it got pushed to my phone this am and gave me no cancel or deny option just defer which only allowed me to choose a time of day to try again i continually would back out and it would come back and when i was in the shower it downloaded ad attempted to install without my permission, pretty foul if you ask me, so when i got out of shower my phone had exclamation point and android character and was stuck in a boot loop i was pissed and thought i was gonna be stuck without a phone till i had time to fix it after work luckily i also discovered that wiping the cache fixed my phone and it stopped bugging me with the update push

I had to wait at Discount Tire for about 70 minutes today and listened to Pandora on my BT headset while reading a book with the Kindle app. Also recevied a call during the wait, Pandora paused, talked to my wife over the BT and at end of call Pandora resumed. No problem at all. Not sure why you're having BT issues but the OTA update didn't cause any issues with mine.

To add to my BT issue, the incompatible message I got was from playing an MP3. It mentioned that Sound Enhancer was not compatible with my BT Headset and then I received the message stating Bluetooth Headset Disconnected. Switching BT on and off would get my MP3 to play but when I switched to Pandora (for example) it would play for 2-3 seconds and then no sound. If I tried playing an MP3 there was still no sound. The song was playing but no sound.

This is irritating.

I'm not so sure that accepting a software download that is supposed to fix several bugs falls in the early adoption category. I think it's fair for the average consumer to assume expect that Verizon and HTC ran this patch on a few phones prior to pushing it out.

For those of you having issues:

1. What 3rd party apps are you using? Try removing ones you suspect as being problematic, especially if it's an app that controls any core settings.

2. Start fresh with a hard reset.

3. Do not use task killers.

In my experience - when you have people reporting success or failure - one or more of these things is usually the source/solution.

Cory, I am willing to bet thet you are on to something with an app causing issues. I am new to the Android family but I remember many BB days when installed apps caused issues...not software updates.

I have not had any issues since the update, so there must be something different between my Bolt and someone's who is having problems. One common thing is people saying that the Android System is crushing their batteries. Mine is at the bottom of the list of battery usage. What could be running that would cause the Android System process to be so overworked for some and virtually silent for others?

3rd Party Apps: Superuser,Rom Manager, Shoot-Me, MetaMorph, and CacheMate

would rooming any of these apps help?(I am no longer rooted and on the newest stock zip because I got stuck on boot loader screen with security warning on.) How do you know if you have the firmware update already or not?

Is there an application that anyone can run to have a log to show which application (if it is related to an app) causes the TB to reboot? Maybe that can really find out if it's really an application issue or the radio itself.

Updated yesterday in the morning and so far all is well. First Android device for me coming from a Blackberry Tour. The lack of a keyboard is somewhat of a challenge but so far I have had success with this phone.

The smart people over at XDA have confirmed with testing different radio combinations, resulted in the main culprit for the random reboots being the new radio. Hopefully they'll be a fix soon.

I highlighted the key word above.

I base a lot of my experience on percentages. I hear a lot of complaints here, but I base mine on what issues are driving calls at work. This is not one of them. The Fascinate's botched Froyo update, on the other hand, was one of them

Some OTA's are successes, some are failures. That success/failure, just like any change, is measured in the percentage of failure.
