If you are rooted, you shouldn't be trying the update anyway. You are asking for issues.

Invalid Operation when trying to install update.zip

I am trying to install this ota update manually by putting the update.zip onto root of sd card then trying to apply it within recovery. I am on stock and am not rooted. When i select the apply update.zip on cd card option, i get a message saying invalid operation and my phone just reboots and nothing is updated. am I doing something wrong? I start by powering off my phone, then hold vol down + power to get into bootloader. I select recovery then i get to screen with red triangle and exclamation point. I hold power and vol up and it brings up with recovery screen where i get 4 options. i always choose the apply sd card option and it never works. please help. Thanks! I havent gotten the update ota yet and i keep trying to hit check for update. the popup comes up saying that is it checking for update but it then just disappears and nothing happens.

I have the EXACT same issue. I am in Orange County, Ca. My son's Thunderbolt has the same issue. :'(

Fyi, i'm in socal and i saw the update. Tried 3-4 times in 4g, 2x in 3g, finally, my 3g went to 1x on its own and the update showed up when on 1x.

When I hit check new, the Checking for update... box comes up for about 5 seconds, the disappears. Any advice?

I had actually got to the point where it started downloading this morning, then it would error out. Now I can't even get that far.

That's why my app drawer final row wasn't full... I saw the Backup Assistant icon, but it just didn't click for me for some reason.
