New Forum Design: Official Feedback Thread

I am not seeing the new forum design since today morning.I had just seen it for some time yesterday late evening and night and did not get time to check it out properly.

I think a lot of us thought we were stuck with it when it appeared on our chosen browser and the method we knew to change it back was not there.
No matter what I do, I can't force the new layout so it might be people are just seeing the old layout because the new one isn't working right yet. Can you force the new layout and switch back to the old one and vice-versa? I'm on Firefox on my desktop.

Small thing, but I miss the 'thread started by & date' info in the forum pages. Helps to know if a thread is recent or something older that's been bumped by a new post.

Another vote for returning the listing of recent articles at the top. Finally, for my older eyes the larger font is a big plus.

I had been going to General in settings also to try switching, but that's not the problem with my browser not switching between the new and old. I run noscript to block scripts in FF and if "lightboxcdn.com" is blocked, then switching between the new and old won't work. If I temporarily allow lightboxcdn, then I can switch between the two. If I further disallow lightboxcdn in noscript, it will still switch, probably due to cookies and continue to work as long as I don't close my browser. Once I close my browser, noscript will block lightboxcdn by default and again I can't switch. So the lightboxcdn.com script must be running to see the new layout... at least in FF on noscript. I'm fine with the old layout and don't care to have the ability to switch, so I'll continue to block lightboxcdn.com.

Today it's back to not allowing you to revert to the old style which is pure rubbish. Come on guys..take this update off line and fix your bugs before going live. You just don't fix your kinks on a site this big live.. it's a no no.

Yep. It's like they dumbed it down or something. I also cannot change the style as it always reverts back to the new layout.

Garbage.

I'd agree the started by & when missing isn't good, also would like the page numbers back, as well as something to indicate which forum a thread is in.

I just wanted to pipe in and mention that some of the actual bugs (rather than complaints about items missing compared to the previous version/layout) were not present during the testing phase. When it went live, something happened and some termites broke through the woodwork.

I must say though, the tech team looks to have been earning some OT and worked this weekend to solve most of the new bugs. Things look to be back to the way they should be, and some pre-release complaints I had have been resolved in the process.

To those complaining about it - keep trying it out. There's a night mode/dark theme (this has been mentioned, the toggle looks like a settings gear but it's actually a sun and clicking it turns it to a moon and makes it a dark theme) which makes it a little easier to read. I will say, I wasn't a fan of the new design when I started testing it but there have been some improvements and it's MUCH better than it started out.

I admit that I still have some complaints, but I've gotten used to the new design.

I brought this up during testing (started by and when on the forum display), it still hasn't been addressed.

I have a hard time telling which posts are the Stickies vs the normal. The word Sticky needs to be MUCH larger or denote them in some other form.

Another example of lost functionality with the new design on my Note 4; I can no longer pinch to zoom (or double tap with finger or S Pen) to enlarge text on a page. :(

I have checked and it's clear that all your issues are down to the fact that the old design loaded the full desktop view on a Note 4 and the new design is responsive so you are getting the widest mobile view instead - in which some information is removed due to restrictions in available space.

In the previous design some phones incorrectly loaded the full desktop view. Will look into the zoom feature as that definitely works on our end.

I was unable to access Admin on the new design in order to approve a post in the mod queue. I had to use the Tapatalk app for the mod function.

Today I see the new design but I cannot change back to the old design if I wish to.The page reloads in the new design.
I cannot see who has liked my posts.
The 'Started by ' is missing from the threads.
The pages are loading slowly now though it was faster in the beginning.
The pages in the new design seem to have less information than the old design.
No Advanced Search in new design.
Also no indicator of member's status whether online or offline.
No numbering of posts in a thread.

The new design looks nice but functionality at one glance of old design is needed.

Thursday, Friday and Saturday Morning (2/25), I could change back and forth to any one of the three layouts with Firefox then it just stopped! Reverts back to MoNa Style no matter what I select! Not sure what happened but I really would like 2012 back PLEASE?

Also, you changed the Avatars from square to round after lots of people designed them to be square - it chops off the lower title of my truck! Just Nitpicking but not a lot of thought went into that decision either!!!

I'm going to drop out for awhile and maybe return if the AC 2012 works again. Can't stand this Mona style. It's more difficult to read, with no flow. It takes longer to scroll the page because the thread separation is wider (for no good reason!), the number of replys on the left side is distracting and now forces me to look in two places for replies and number of reads. No info on where the thread was started, or number of pages. No flow!

It's different, but NOT better! It's really too bad the devs have no idea what makes things work... makes things "easy"! I can't believe they can't make this site "look" new without removing functionality and flow. If I didn't know better, I'd think these designers worked for Google!

As a reminder, there's a difference between being a jerk and offering constructive criticism and feedback. A few people are offering suggestions for improvement, a few people are just ********. This thread is intended for feedback. ******** should get its own thread. @Almeuit can we get that thread and consider moving the appropriate posts there? Devs need uncluttered straight forward constructive feedback here.
