That was unexpected, I'm not sure why it didn't work. I have done a little digging around but haven't found anything to help yet. But I believe what you need is a Verizon signed ruu.

Well I'm about at the end of my ideas, I'm sure you could take it in to Verizon and they could get it going but I don't know if they would charge for that. I would also suggest asking on xda, someone there with more knowledge than me might be able to get you going.
