New HTC One M9 Image leak

Too much to lose, nothing to gain if that leak is true. HTC will get smoked by all the other brands...don't believe this.

Don't forget, regardless of what people think of the M8, it was generally a flop for HTC, it's sales were weak compared to the giants and it never gained steam through 4Q 2013. It was a good phone (I wouldn't buy it for a number of reasons from its design but that's another story) but not a big seller. HTC is generally regarded as a weak marketing performer, very little brand recognition compared to the giants.

So...what's the best thing they could do? Generate interest...good or bad, any press is good press at this point for them. I think it's smart for them to put out images of their clunky M8 and show it in another color to generate buzz, then pull out their shining star at the MWC in a few days. They're desperate for attention, even right now Samsung is launching a marketing blitz that has everyone talking well before the release. I think this is HTC's attempt at generating buzz, however it's not as effective as Samsung's which shows they're still way behind on the creativity scale from that perspective. Right now it seems the only ones taking notice are the HTC fans since they're really the only ones who give a hoot.

My worthless prediction...evleaks is right and this phone will be compared to the iPhone on short order.

no their not. if that was true the minute the s6 render came sammys stock dropped another 20%.

Sammy has HOW much of the market compared to HTC? One of these companies has been doing something right all this time. I may not like it very much but Samsung has the unquestioned largest chunk of the Android market. They're not going to stray too far from what got them there in the first place. HTC's the one that needs to be disruptive, and an M8v2 is simply not disruptive.

While I agree HTC needs to make a splash. I really feel that the M8 was one of the best phones of 2014. My opinion. For a consumer needing a device it fits a ton of needs and does everything very well. It has probably the best ui/skin of any of the OEM's. While disappointed I'm still excited with the improvements the M9 will have and I will get one, hopefully the phablet sized one. As we see from other manufacturers redesigns don't happen every year and this might not be the case with HTC.

HTC can never compete with Sammy and Apple in marketing dollars. Sorry to say but people are dumb, they want an iPhone or that Galaxy. I worked in the industry and at times was able to see how people "shop" and was amazed at what little research people do but rather just go by what a friend has or what they saw in a commercial. I'm a learn, read, research and decide person. Many shoppers don't do this. Not sure how HTC can break Samsung's hold on Android. They need an impact device and without a big redesign like it was said above the bloggers won't do the phone justice no matter how good it is without a headline makeing change.

I'm hoping for the best as a long time HTC fan.

Has evleaks had anything to say since it seems his leaks were so far off the mark (for the worse IMO)?

You can check his twitter feed, but this is the last message I saw from him which was in response to someone asking him to speak out about the upleaks posts -> "It's become such a confusing and contentious issue that we're all better off dialing back the public discourse until the launch."
