New Nexus 4 purchase: Anyone get a shipping notification or tracking number?

I'm thinking the same thing. No email like that yet.
Yup... all over... 4 phones down tubes... Thanks for nothin Google... Should've waited and gone today to TMobile and pay the extra $150 and get the same exact phone   Pitiful!

Dang reading these posts just got me nervous.. I haven't received a shipping email yet, and definitely do not want to receive a back order email.. I'll happily wait till next Wed.. :)

For everyone in this thread who still shows "Pre-ordered" status: I just called Google (mine says that too). I was told I would have to wait "up to 3 weeks" to get my device shipped. In a nutshell, my order wasn't supposed to go through (since they are not doing pre-orders or back-orders) but did because of a glitch with the heavy traffic. So, nothing until the second batch is ready.

I'll probably just cancel. The whole order process was a mess, and unexpected for a company that specializes in extremely high-availability services. It would have been much better to keep taking orders after the initial sellout, switching the page from "In Stock" to "Ships in 3-4 weeks" or whatever. I was excited about trying Android for the first time, but not so much after this fiasco.

Here's the followup email I got:
Hi (me),

Thank you for contacting Google Play! It was my pleasure assisting you today.

We are working to ship the item in your order as quickly as possible within the 3 week timeframe. You will will receive an email confirmation as soon as your order is processed and on it's way.

Also, upon receiving your shipping confirmation email, you'll be given a UPS tracking number that will assist you in determining your package's estimated delivery date. You can track your UPS delivery by providing this tracking number at:
UPS: Tracking Information

Thank you,

Edit: didn't get the backorder email everyone is now talking about, but I assume that's on its way. Or maybe that'll take a few weeks too... :p

Sorry for the lack of info on my last thread. Ok So it was a N4 16GB, the wallet says Order Date: November 13, 2012 11:27:47.

No bumper!

I am in Raleigh, NC.

Sucks bc I had convinced my buddy (who is a die-hard iPhone fan) to try an Android... great first time experience hahah

I sadly agree with that conclusion. If you don't have a tracking number already, then you probably can expect the overwhelming demand 3-week delay email.

The worst part is that it appears that there's no rhyme or reason of when you ordered. Mine was one of the very first but I'm already planning on cancelling as soon as the email hits my Inbox. Refunding shipping isn't enough for me.

I guess there's a reason Google doesn't sell devices directly and this would be it.

I actually just switched from Lumia 800 to N4. (Please note Lumia 800 and 900 were almost the same besides the screen size). Even though it was the high end WP7, I couldn't deal with WP7 anymore due to horrible horrible camera. I take an insane amount of photos on my phones and I had Nokia N8 before Lumia 800.

Now the newer generation of the WP8 seems improved. However, I had been very very disappointed with WP7's couple aspects. I actually carefully compared all the photos taken with the N4 (pre-release firmware), Lumia 920 and various other phones and decided that I would rather pay $350=tax for Nexus 4 than $450+tax for Lumia 920. I am sure WP8 is much much better but the simple fact is that some of the Android apps I needed required a phone rather than the tablet I had. I had to buy an Android phone.

I haven't experiences WP yet so I hesitated on the Lumia 920 when I went to the store. I know and enjoy Android so I knew, event at $100 less, that I would love the N4. Just wish they would have organized the release better. :(

I got back ordered today too...:(

Quote from the email I received today from Google.

Thank you for your recent purchase on Google Play. Due to overwhelming demand, your Nexus 4 is on backorder and is expected to ship within three weeks. We?ll send you a notification when your order has shipped and will credit the shipping charges.

Before we completely dismiss Google, I wonder how many devices they had in stock. I mean both local stocks and the global stocks. For a company like Google to mess it up this bad, I can only expect record numbers. Don't get me wrong. I am not a Google fan. I appreciate Android, their search engine and gmail but they have done me wrong in the past with AdSense and other web developer/administrator services.

Oh man that sucks......

I am waiting for an email still..

So am I.. I will not be happy if I get this backordered email. But so far haven't heard anything. Google Play still shows today as the Shipping date.

If Lumia 920 was cheaper than Nexus 4, I would have just bought that without even thinking any further. Nokia's are ridiculously amazing. The build quality is insane and support is tremendous. WP7, however, didn't do justice to the hardware. I can't be sure about WP8 as they didn't give me a WP8 device. Oh I got my Lumia 800 for free because I had a pretty simple but highly downloaded free app in the Windows Phone Market Place.

Anyone who got back ordered try giving them a call. I called and they said even though I have no gotten an email that I will get my phone tmmr.

Backorder, UK ordered 8:51:59 AM UTC and received a confirmation email. Also still showing as 15th in Play and no change in my Wallet. Gutted, I was so happy that this time they gave a date and stopped selling when they had run out. The launch of the Nexus 7 was a right mess up because there was almost no information, thought they'd cracked it this time. I spoke to three different customer service people and they all said everything was fine.
