New note 3 owner as of tomorrow.

I loved my iPhone. But I have not missed it at all. Now I see iPhones as kids toys, I picked up one the other day and wondered how in the world I forced myself into that small little box. If more people would just try it for a couple of days the Note 3 would out sale all phones.

The Note 3 is a great device but some want something just smaller. If you're only going to have one device and not a separate phone and tablet it seems the Note 3 might be especially appealing.

Another new to Android/GN3 owner here.

I've had it for about 2 weeks now and I am loving it! I too came from the iPhone 4s. Been an iPhone user since the 3G, and until recently, you would have found me singing the praises of the iPhone. Admittedly, I was pretty much in the dark about Android, so there was a bit of that "fear of the unknown."

I was pretty happy with my 4s, but only because I have been a jailbreaker since my first iPhone. It was the only way I could enjoy the phone the way I wanted. But of course, with every new iOS update(especially major ones), meant having to wait a long time for a new jailbreak, or lose the features that I had gotten so used to. Even now, there is still no jailbreak for iOS7.

There's also the issue of screen size. I've always felt that the iPhone could increase its screen size, or offer a larger version. When the 5 came out, I was pretty disappointed that they just stretched it out a bit. Still looks weird to me. Who knows if they will ever go big. It seems to be against their ideology.

The coup de gras for me was iOS7 itself. I just don't like the changes. Maybe waiting for a jailbreak would allow for customization to my liking. Maybe not. So all those things combined made me take a real close look at Android.

At first, I was looking at the S4. A nice looking phone with a substantially bigger screen than the 4s. I was aware of the Note 2 and pretty much wrote it off as being ridiculously big for a phone. Then a coworker shows up with the Note 3. Sure, at first glance it did seem absurdly big, but then I started holding it for a bit, putting it in my pocket and such. The first thing that really surprised me was the weight. I think my brain had a hard time grasping that a device this big could feel so light. :) My coworker started showing me a bunch of the cool features and how the s-pen works. Right then and there, I was sold.

So, two weeks in now and I'm still adjusting to it a bit. Not necessarily the size of it, which I now think is pretty much perfect, but the ins and outs of the OS. I had to get some info off my 4s the other day and it felt like holding a pack of gum, lol. I still get a bit giddy when I show people that the 4s can fit completely within the screen space of the Note 3. :D My eyes love me for it as well. I'm pretty near sighted and I was starting to struggle a bit to read text on my iPhone without taking off my glasses. Don't have that problem with the Note 3, no sir.

Making the switch hasn't been without a few quirks and sacrifices. The first thing that bewildered me was the lack of built-in visual voicemail in the phone app like there is on the iPhone. It took me a bit to realize I would have to download an app of my choosing from the play store to get that functionality. I like having things consolidated so it kind of annoys me that I have to have one app for phone, another for voicemail. I decided to go with the AT&T Messages app since it at least combines messages and voicemail. It just seems a bit counterintuitive at the moment, but I'm getting used to it.

Another minor annoyance has to do with the fact that I'm required to use an Exchange email account for work and the security requires a PIN and removal of certain features that I would like to use. Obviously that is not the phone's problem however, on my jailbroken 4s there was an easy way to bypass the security via a simple tweak installed through Cydia. Yes, it was a risk to violate the security, but it has never been an issue in the 5 years I've been using the bypass. I thought for sure there would be a similarly easy way to do this on Android, even if it meant rooting, which I have. But so far a solution escapes me, despite scouring various forums(XDA, etc.) and not finding anything that works. I've even tried a couple mail apps from the play store that will bypass security, but they are either unreliable, or not to my liking. I still have a lot to learn when it comes to tinkering under the hood with Android. It certainly does not seem as straightforward as jailbreaking has been.

If you're still reading this I commend you. :) I am always on the search for advice, tips, tricks, whatever when it comes to the Note 3. One area of interest is dealing with some of the bloatware and what is/isn't safe to remove, and how.

It is dumb that VVM needs a separate app. Thanks to ATT I had to put a 3rd party app on my HTC Titan WP as well. They claim to still be testing it with their network. 2 years later.

I am looking to move to another phone from my BlackBerry Q10, not because I don't like blackberry anymore the reason is that they can't get my blackberry email account unlocked. I am looking at the gn3 as well. I'm still in my 14 day period.

The Note 3 is a great phone. A very very very powerful device. ...and... With great power comes great responsibility. Are you ready?

I'm not going to say it's a kids toy. That's an old stereotype but I do look at my work iPhone and realize how much smaller it is and wonder how I surfed normal websites on it. Lol

i can't buy applications since my blackberry id is tied to the app store.

The q is a great device for the battery and keyboard. This phone with SwiftKey and it's ginormous battery trumps the q in my mind. If you pump emails out all day I will be honest and say there is nothing like a physical keyboard but SwiftKey has done a darn good job at helping me not mess up a lot. Including this post. Lol

Another converted 4 user. I bought iPhone from the beginning. Never thought I would own anything else. I have had to work through a couple issues with the GN3, the most surprising being the dropped wireless issue. However, now I can't force myself to put it down! I can't go back unless Apple has an offering to those who want more screen space and ditch that God awful looking iOS 7. Steve would have thrown it out at inception. I LOVE the device so far, have found most my apps (I miss StarWalk) and get more comfortable with it every day. Well, like I said, you get used to it pretty quick when you can't put it down ;)

Thought I was the only who couldn't stand iOS 7! Those bright colors was just too much for me. And the icons looked so kiddish it was driving me nuts!

I don?t know why the look of iOS 7 doesn?t bother me at all, just the lack of customization and tuning is just rather shocking.

Once I got used to the size of the Note 3 I could never go back to the iPhone. Not to mention all the features this thing packs. It's amazing. And true all day battery life. I love it !!

The battery is a welcomed feature. Being able to charge it with a normal micro usb charger is nice but also being able to play games and watch movies and not worry about the battery for hours is fantastic. I have a 15000 mah extended external battery but I haven't had to break out that beat yet.

So far I've had the phone for. Couple weeks and I'm still finding new cool things about it lol

Weight is fantastic. I've had mine since Verizon Day 1 and I still find it a little bulky to talk with (though not the end of the world). I have a bluetooth headset that I bought with it but the ear loop snapped already (>.<). Highly recommended though, makes talking on the phone much less annoying.

Screen Write is great. I had to get my Rx # for a a scrip refill so I was able to call home, turn screen write on, talk via BT and copy the number down to the screen. Awesome that you can use the phone to scribble quick notes when you're in the middle of a phone call. I also find it easier to use in the car for maps and such. It travels fine since the weight is so modest.

Never had a BT headset but I never found that I needed it. If I had to write something down I just put the phone to speaker then go and get the app to write what I need to. You might say you don't want to bother people around you. But you do that anyway when YOU talk.
