New OTA on Verizon Support

Just got my update 10 minutes ago and it only took 5 minutes to complete. Now on 605 and tested voicemail, it works like it suppose to. Created a vm it showed on phone, once listened to vm you can delete it from notifications.

I've been alternating between "No Updates Available" and "Service Unavailable" all day. For the last three hours or so, it's been "Service Unavailable" or some new error I've never seen before "Error: xxxxx" where xxxxx is some 5-digit number I can't recall.

Servers must be swamped and stomped at the moment.

Ah, well, the phone is working, and the only real change I'm looking forward to is the security fix and the front-facing camera for Google Talk.

But first I'll try again, just one last time... ;)

6:50 pm in wa state. Just checked and got "error, service not available" this morning was "no update available" so I guess its coming soon?

(Located in southwestern PA) I also just received the update notification msg, so I let it install which took about 5mins or so and now I'm back up and running. I'm hoping that the update fixes the Mail app not receiving emails sine the GB update.

I've been hitting the Check for new Software button about every thirty seconds since 7pm till now (7:56) and finally got through. Till now I'd been getting Service not Available. Installing now.

I did notice that the download was not large. It was 13.927 Meg. I had 605.3 before this update. So, it looks like the folks who already have the OTA GB 605.3 version only have to download a smaller "patch" package.

Software:2.11.605.5
Baseband:1.48.00.0906w_1, 0.01.78.0906w_2 (same as GB 605.3 radios)

Just updated mine, no trouble, quick and easy! Hoping to see improved behaviors, like no more strange power downs, weird notification issues, and the messed up ringtones!

Downloading now. Tried a few times earlier with no luck, even about an hour ago.

Located in central Ohio, about an hour north of Columbus.

Edit: Seven minute download time on 3G. (13.927mb file) (Already had the first GB OTA, obviously I'm assuming this is a patch and for users who do not have it will get the full file?)

Took around eight minutes or so for the install time. It always freaks me out when the HTC and ThunderBolt screens seem to last longer than usual. lol

I just flashed the rooted version of the update. The first one I tried got me stuck at the htc screen. Had to pull battery and restore. Very scary.

Tonight it went uneventfully - no problem. Had a lot of help. That white screen is scary.

Haven't used the new version long enough to know anything but at least I still have root and didn't need to wipe data.

We'll see....

So if I got the first gingerbread update am I safe to update with this one?

Yes, if you are referring to the Verizon OTA GB release that was pulled a few days later after the launch. I just did it myself. (edited my post on the bottom of the last page)

Only thing that scared me was the ThunderBolt screen taking a bit longer than usual. Haha.

I lost a widget on ud. Dont know name. It was full page widget to tap on a contact n it would either dial or txt upon tapping icon which also had contscts picture synced ftom fb

Yes, that is what I currently have on my phone. I will update as soon as it becomes available to me. Thanks for the reply.
