New pattern lock issue

Since I've had my droid (a week or so for this one) I have never even looked at let alone set up a screen pattern lock on my droid. After I hit the screen unlock button I would always have to like the thing over to unlock the device.

Miraculously after taking my droid out of my car dock I woke up my screen to see a pattern lock. Except i do not need to do a pattern to unlock it. All i have to do is touch the screen to unlock it. I feel it will make it easier to make an accidental pocket call.

I went into my settings to find the Require Pattern box was checked. I've never noticed this being checked before.

Oddly, do i now need to set up a pattern just so I don't have that screen pop up?

Please help?

Doesnt look like I can uncheck it without setting up a pattern lock.

In my opinion, just very odd that this would just start happening out of nowhere. I didn't install any apps that affect this when they were installed let alone now.

problem is that if its checked for require pattern, when you uncheck it, it asks you to confirm the pattern that is stored... so if you never entered a pattern but it claims you have, then you need to know the pattern to change it. i believe there is a "forgot pattern" function somewhere

i realize the problem was it was checking for a pattern. I just never set one or told it to check

As far as if you forget your pattern i believe you can unlock it with your gmail and password.

its possible some rogue app messes with those settings, but highly doubtful. I use autolock app which actually controls those settings from within the app. I set a lock pattern as normal, but tell this app that i only want it enabled after X minutes. So, the app itself toggles the settings after those X minutes so i dont have to redraw the lock patter evertime i wake the phone.

If you can get rid of the pattern i would just move along and wait to see if it occurs again.

If you have a password set and cant get in, have someone cal your phone. hir the back button to make your changes..

Didn't mean to sound off-the-cuff with my first response. Was busy here for a while.

I would very carefully look through permissions of any app you think may be suspect. It's impossible to tick it off by hand without setting a pattern, but easy to do with software. SOMETHING on your system tried to enable the lock pattern.
