New pictures of the Bionic!

I think Webtop is a very cool feature. The price tag is totally unjustified, however. I see the Atrix dock currently going $370 brand new on Ebay. I bought a very cheap laptop with better specs (of course) for $350 last year as a gift for Christmas. The Transformer goes for $399. I guess I just don't get it.

i saw a reference on cnet.com that the Photon's webdock was priced at only $130, but i don't care enough to confirm. however, this price range would make the webdock much more appealing if vzw were to adopt a similar price point...

EDIT: i couldn't find any prices, but people over at androidforums.com are claiming that they were able to purchase the webdock in stores for $130.

Found the article here:

That might be a price point low enough for CK to even like it! :D

At the least it could turn that feature into a selling point over other phones released for a bit since it's more/less a Motorola exclusive feature.

Crossing my fingers.

@ $130.00 I would definitely consider the webdock, but at $300.00+ No way in He!!

I'm pretty certain they were talking about the Entertainment Center/Webtop kit:
Amazon.com: Motorola 89485N Entertainment Center/Webtop Access Kit for Motorola ATRIX 4G (Motorola Retail Packaging): Cell Phones & Accessories

And not the Laptop Dock/Lapdock:
Amazon.com: AT&T Laptop Dock for Motorola ATRIX 4G (Retail Packaging): Cell Phones & Accessories

I was just reading the reviews for the laptop dock and one of the reviewers said that ATT wants to charge you for tethering if you use it while on 3G. This seems more than a little ridiculous.

those are for the Atrix, not the Photon. and, that was my point - it appears Sprint may have undercut the price to make it more attractive. but, you may be right - they may be talking about different things.

in fact, after searching for "photon laptop dock", instead of "photon webdock", i found this post from here (AC) supporting your interpretation. i guess the laptop dock isn't out yet...???

I couldn't believe that when I read it myself a few weeks back. You are still just using your phone. That would be like charging you for tethering if you stuck your iPhone in a speaker dock and streamed Pandora. The dock only enhances what you already have and is not capable of anything without the phone attached. Simply ridiculous.

born and raised north of GI, went to UNL for undergrad, but now live in Phx - the winters are way too brutal!! the humidity and flooding in the summer ain't all that, either... spent a LOT of time in the 'Ha back in the day - great town!!!

Just guessing those little contact points under the battery are for a charging pad enabled battery cover?

Man... I hope so. Thats one feature I hoped I'd be able to have on my next phone. Not a requirement, just something that would be nice. Though, I do intend on having multiple docs for all the places i'm normally at :)

But But.... if i'm gonna video skype ya using the FFC... i'd rather do it more than a few feet away from you. Not cuz its wierd, but because I dont want there to be any feedback due to my mic picking up my voice from your speaker... yeah... thats the reason.
:)

Well hopefully they didnt keep the vga ffc otherwise you will not have a very good time skyping.

I honestly don't really plan on using the FFC for much at all. I have never been a fan of chatting via webcam so i'm not really anticpating much use of the FFC on the Bionic (or any other phone). I'm sure it has its uses... such as for a long distance relationship (may bring phone s*x to a new level ;)). Who knows.. i'm sure others LOVE the FFC, i just think its a feature thats good to have... but personally wont use it unless someone needs to borrow my phone and use it for me.

You better believe the first time I Skype with my kids from work, they are going to think it's the coolest thing ever. They won't care if the camera is VGA or a 1,000,000mp. They are only 7 and 4. :D
