New Radio for ThunderBolt - LTE/3G Handoff fix - Battery Drain - More!

An RUU should not require root.

RUU = Rom Upgrade Utility. It will completely replace the phone software (blows all your apps away, so you'll need to go thru Android setup again and reload all apps).

Awwwwwwww yeah! With this fix it WILL be my dream phone. Forget about the one after it!

New to this HTC hboot flashing thing . First I am not rooted , second I downloaded the non root ruu and put it on my SD root names something like png05img.zip then booted into hboot by holding vol. Down and hitting power button. It scans the card and said checking png05img.zip but doesn't apply update. How do I flash this ruu. Any help would be great ! Ty in advance.

I was reading the XDA thread and I don't know if the unrooted version is the same or not, but with the rooted version they said that the radio version will be shown as the same as stock.

I'm with you WebDev, still don't feel like i'm missing out on anything if I don't root at this point or take the leap with this premature update. I'm pretty experienced with rooting and flashing ROM's, Kernel's, Radio's, but with the leak coming out means we should be hit with the official OTA any time now. The phone absolutely flies as is and any problem i've had (none really) all have solutions with an app taken care of them.

incorrect, radio should go from 1.16.00.0223r to 1.16.00.0402w_1 if the update is applied correctly

No I figure that it's probably really close to being released OTA since the leaked version appears to be pretty stable. So I'm just going to wait.

You will be waiting at least two months, maybe three. Meanwhile in about 2 hours I will be at home flashing a new radio and ROM that is available NOW. I let you know how much improved my user experience is tomorrow.

I live in a 3G-only area, so hand-off is not an issue (yet). My problem has been a repetitive dropping of data requiring multiple restarts per day. Regrettably, I finally had to return my phone before the return window closed on me.

Does anyone know if this fix addresses the dropped data issue?

The phone still has to keep checking to see if it encounters a 4G signal. I've noticed that just checking can cause the loss of all data.

I'm currently testing new radio, rom and kernel since 4 am pst. I'll share my findings here.
