New Samsung Home Launcher Update + New Feature

I just had his update push to my phone And here are some new things I noticed

1. They added the quick notification drop down so that whenever you're on a home screen you can swipe down from anywhere to drop the notification shade which really comes in handy so you don't have to reach all the way up to the top

2. They added an option for when long-pressing apps on the home screen you can put certain apps to sleep

Yeah they actually added the feature to the S8 and the S8 plus a few weeks back and I had been running that version of the launcher until this morning...

This is the first time that I haven't installed Nova Launcher day one I'm going to try and ride out stock launcher as long as possible it's not nearly as bad as they used to be

Samsung must have improved sending updates to non carrier models as every time people post about one I already have it ( auto updates on )

I installed the update last week. There's a thread somewhere on here that has the link to get it.

The auto sleep option for apps isn't new.

I do not remember seeing that as an option when long-pressing app icons before today...

For the record this is a T-Mobile Note 8

Even my Note 5 has that option. My Note 8 is also T-Mobile.

Ok .... I see now. It's just by chance I never clicked on an app that had the option I didn't realize it was a limited number of apps like it is lol

Plus it doesn't show up as an option for all apps. I think only apps that aren't set up to auto sleep, you will see that option.

That's what I was curious about- how the new setting affected the app swipe function. Now I can't wait to get the update since I made a habit of swiping up for apps.

Just long press any black space on the home screen ... Then click settings
