New Tapatalk app for android is horrible

Thank you!!! Now that I've reverted using this apk, am I protected from auto updates? If not, how do I protect myself?

Go into the play store and lookup TAPATALK.
Click on the 3 dots in the upper right hand corner and uncheck the box for AUTO UPDATE

They updated ios version to be similar than android version. That is good to have both apps working in the same way... But lot of empty space and only few topic showing at once. And now ios version is crashing all the time...

Trying to drive people nuts and finally away, and just keep the money they paid? E.g. for Pro version (they stopped developing it) and so on... Simply sabotaging their own company? "Hey, nobody using it anymore, lets stop developing it..."

I'm thinking the half screen was encouraged and condoned by the sites themselves. It's good advertising in a crowded environment, but a pain for long time users.

1st day of 4.10.1 (now . 2) I don't think it was finalised.

lucky android users can still use the Pro version (and ios users if you have a backup) unfortunately i dont have it on ios but i do have it on android... there were huge changes between free vs pro/hd version. people were and are complaining that pro version was and is much better than this horrible free version. and yes you can use the free version without ads if you had pro/hd... the problem is that they doesnt support pro version anymore and the free version is just terrible...

I've recently had my 1 star reviews for Tapatalk removed from the Play store. I say "reviews" (plural) because when the first review was removed I created another and now it's gone too. I just left another but don't expect it to be there when I check later.

There is definitely more going on with Tapatalk and the Play Store than meets the eye - Something(s) just smells downright rotten, like they're trying to cover up something stinky.

Notice how almost all of the new 4 & 5 star reviews are short and sound like they're coming from the same people? It looks like TT is trying to keep it's Playstore ratings from tanking.

The totally random nature of the "Let's chat" reply to some of the 1 star reviews makes no sense.

Enough of these games.

I decided I've had enough and deleted Tapatalk from my devices. Back to using browsers for me!

Now that I've gotten used to it... it's not AS horrible.... but there are a couple of things that they need to tweak.

First... I use forum subscriptions heavily, so the only place you can see them all is on the 'main' page... if you are in a sub-forum, you have to back out before you can see your subscriptions again. Unnecessary clicks annoy me as they are inefficient and bad juju when it comes to UX. I'd also like to see subscribed FORUMS listed along with topics..

Second... that stupid 'marked as read' bar thing is a joke. What was SO bad about 'bold white' for unread topics and 'dim grey' for read? I mean, I've fussed with the 'Topic Unread Style' settings... the greyed out settings? Useless and do NOTHING. Actually, most ALL of those settings do nothing to change the layout. At least they fixed the white on white menu thing when in Dark mode.

Out of fairness I tried the newest version. It is totally useless so I'm back to 4.9.5 and will stay there till they fix it right..

I hear ya. I just looked at it again and if I hit All Reviews - Most Helpful and Latest version they are all 1 or 2 stars, though they have given up replying.
Maybe they did remove yours, other apps do that. I think the Play Store reverts the reviews list when you close it.

Time will tell if they change it wholesale.

I'm finding the Participated list is missing unquoted replies to me on some threads. They may appear on Subscibed instead, but I later find on the full website I completely missed replies for days or weeks. So I come across as an ungrateful, unhelpful sod. (which I am!)

1) Google App Indexing Deep linking not working
2) Blog tab missing from the Forum slide-out
3) Unintended logout
4) Unable to share pictures

It's still crap and horrible on iOS as well but with the iPad and bigger screen makes it a tiny bit tolerable

So funny to hear people complaining about Tapatalk 4. Tapatalk stopped being useful the moment it jumped from 2 to 4.
Personally, I still use Tapatalk 2. Works great, easy to navigate, no obnoxious ads (My Pro login still works!) Why in the world anyone would subject themselves to the abortion that is Tapatalk 4 is beyond me.
