New to OG Droid

Hi guys

Im from the fascinate forums, but my friend has an OG Droid he's looking to root. Can anyone give me a basic up to date how to on rooting this phone?

Also, where can I find custom recoveries?

Also, whats the best fully functional/fast ROM we have for the OG droid? I was checking out some but they seem to have some things not working.

Anything I should know that might be different with this phone fundamentally?

My basic strategy is to just ADB push root access to the phone via terminal on my MAC. Then ODIN a recovery on top. Then Flash a custom ROM and Kernel.

Also, fav. kernels?

I would definitely be new, but I am looking for Ultimate Droid 3.3.1, anyone have a link they could set up for it?

Good luck with a link since Ultimate Droid just went MIA...I have it dl'ed on my pc. I could possibly try and email it to you but I'm pretty sure its too big to send via email.

My fav kernels have to be ChevyNo1s I've used his 1GHz LV kernel since I've rooted and it is amazing

fav ROMs have to be Project Elite, CyanogenMod, Simply Stunning, and Ultimate Droid but I'm pretty sure UD died
