New update for EVO 3D? 8/26

Then you need to call them back, and apologize.
This is NOT a new radio update.
This won't "improve your signal."
Did you take 2 minutes to go through the APK before reporting all this "new radio" business?

For your information I only notified them that there was an update. The people here are the ones that say theirs a radio update and improvements on 4G, and not me.

Yes, I even loaded the other ones I could find and they all worked fine. No issues of rebooting nor FC either.

Interesting...so their seems to be a conflict in specific phones that causes the problem after the update then...

Sorry, buddy.
But they're using you as the listed source of their "new radio for the Evo3D " story.....

(This is how mistakes are made by journalists.)
BTW,
It's not a radio. It's just a change in the 'signal strength' meter, basically that makes it appear that you have more bars than you did before.
Apple did the same thing with their meter bar, back in the day, to improve public perception of the iPhone and signal strength.

About the article, yeah that's true, it happens...
But about changing the 'signal strength' meter, I don't know if its true. Unless you work for HTC and/or show us actual proof, I'll stick that it only updated two things: corp4g and something about widgets.

BTW ...the update that appears on the article came few hours later after I sent the tip, meaning that they must of read this discussion and maybe saw what others were seen after this update, Sooo basically it wasn't me.

Proof:

Pull the app, and extract it.

Realize what its only function is.

Think:
"Is there a new radio with this?"
(Answer: "No.")

Realize.

First, what app?

Second, if what you are saying is true, that they change the signal strength meter, the results on speed test would stay the same. Theirs a post that says that before the update, he did a speedtest; and then gave the update and and did another speed test and found increased speed and it was done in the same place.
If HTC only updated the signal strength meter, why are all the people here except you saying that there's an increment in speed?
For me, increased speed = updated radio.

Go for it. It's a system app.
Also, Internet traffic levels, (and the speeds which we attain) vary all the time depending on where you are, and what time of the day it is, yada, yada.
Just saying.

I know that traffic levels and the area ones in, but there's no arguing these speeds: one said before he was getting 3mbps and now he's getting 10mbps, and another said 1.7mbps the 4mbps...that's pretty good speed, special on a Friday during the day!

Oh and I'll check that app...

My 4G speeds just jumped up by 2mbps
because... We'll, only because Sprints 4G service ALWAYS fluctuates like crazy, lol.

Ok, I've been looking around and found that the baseband is the same as the one that came with the 2.3.4 update and that the radio takes more than 1 Megabyte, and the update that came is only two thing which the largest is 1.1MB but that for widget or something like that, and the corp 4G is like 0.5MB.
What I'm thinking is that one of those two thing that was updated "MAYBE" was creating conflict on the software level making 4G speed download slower and signal strength level to appear lower than it is. Just an opinion!!!

But you were right!!! No new radio.

Sorry for the potentially stupid question, but when you turn 4G on, do you have to turn 3G and wi-fi radios off?

Turning on 4G will disable 3G. If you turn on WiFi and get connected it will disable whichever Sprint connection you have enabled at the current time. Once you turn off WiFi it will default to the Sprint connection you had at the time you switched to WiFi. I am all about saving power and coming from an Iphone I was tired of getting asked to switch to WiFi every time it found a network, so I disable WiFi every time I am not at a place I am going to be using it.

I still haven't received my update yet. I called Sprint and the guy said that they were releasing the update in certain areas first. Has anyone else in Los Angeles received their update?

Strange. Haven't had any issues but today got a text message telling me I had a voice mail. I use handcent.

If you're using Google Voice you get vm to text, even if you use a third party messaging app. Don't know if that is your situation, just an observation.
