New Update this am

More memory

Ive notice more memory in my task panel app....when i would kill my backround apps i would have about 65-71mb now i have about 90mb. Screen lock seems more responsive. Thats all i've notice so far. About the youtube app i've made a bookmark shorcut on my screen from the moble website, problem solved. Hate that they dont show love for my eris like they do the droid......

I jumped the gun and did the MR2 update. Huge difference in memory handeling! Went from 50+ to 90+ average MB. Totally worth it.

@MasonMi - go to the android market and install ES Task Mgr... You can use this to kill any task that you don't need. Helps with the battery life as well.

Just got my update... Although it could be the old placebo effect, it does seem to be "snappier" as others have mentioned...

Natural progression >Eris > 2.0/2.1 > Nexus One for Verizon - Yeah!

it seems snappier and more memory BUT battery life seems to be dropping more than before

Just received the update in Louisville, KY.
Didn't see this in the thread yet..
Benefits of Upgrade: http://support.vzw.com/pdf/DROID_ERIS_Update.pdf

I have had the frozen screen before, so I'm glad to see this upgrade. Hopefully this eliminates the needs for battery pulls.

Things I've noticed...
Start up takes more time (hopefully this is a one time occurrence).
Doesn't seem to be any more responsive.
On a fresh start up, without killing any apps, Awake time is falling as it should (at 80% after about 7 minutes).

The biggest thing I noticed... IT'S NOT 2.0!!!!! I got excited when I saw the update screen. Oh well, I guess the 22nd isn't that far away.

I am having MAJOR failures since I updated last night. All of the core applications for the phone - including the phone application (com.android.phone) itself which allows you to make and receive calls are ALL force closing. Calling VZW tech support now.

your memory may be full or close to full that the startup processes dont have memory to load up. I had a similar issue but not due to the update. The update may have made the main memory fill up more. if support tells you to wipe your phone back to original state, first try uninstalling a larger app by going to Settings > Applications and pic any larger application you have installed. Then reboot and see if that helps. I went through 2 eris's to figure this out on my own.

I'm noticing pretty significant decrease in battery life post update.

Previously, staring with a full charge in the morning, I could use the phone and stream pandora all day at work, use the phone occasionally that evening, and still have approx 25% battery life by the time I went to bed.

Post update, starting again with a full charge, I'm already under 50% battery life before lunch, and I'm running out of battery mid afternoon.

I've gone from a phone that I could get part way through the next day on a single charge to one that doesn't even make it through the day.

Any one else experiencing similar decrease in battery performance post update?

I'm having the same exact problem. I was just thinking last week how my worries about the battery were somewhat unfounded. Whoops! Jinxed myself! I went from having around 40% battery at the end of the day to 10%, if I didn't make long phone calls. Very, very frustrating.

The advice from customer support was to start uninstalling apps. Not very pleased with this situation. I'm going to run a few trials over the next couple of days to see if I can isolate specific apps, usage patterns, etc that may contribute to the loss in battery life. Then it's back to the store. I don't know how far I'll get there though, as yesterday was the end of my 30 day return period. I guess we'll see.

Try using a taskman. Something is running and preventing your phone from sleeping. I had a similar issue and found an app that was the issue. But only noticed after the update. System manager or another process manager will help you figure it out.

Would that not be reflected in % awake time? I'm steady around 20%.

I was runnig Adv Task Killer. Removed it today to see if it was part of the issue.

Try downloading the app "spare parts." When you open it and go to battery history, check the partial wake usage. Android System should be on top. If something else is above it, that's what is keeping your awake time up and killing your battery.
