New Verizon G4 Update

This update killed my push notifications as well... really frustrating. Friends with a G4 on other carriers aren't having this problem, and they didn't on the G3 either. Damn Verizon, you really need to get your **** together.

It hasn't been every app with push notifications, but this happens to me, too. It's happened on other (non-LG) handsets I've had, as well. Some apps are more prone to it than others (theScore is one).

First thing you can try is to uncheck the notifications setting in the app, force close it in app management, and then open the app and re-check the setting for notifications. You can al;so delete the stored data 9which obviously will require you to set up the app again).

If that doesn't fix the issue, an uninstall and reinstall usually does. I'd reboot in between for good measure.

I know it's a pain.

Correct, Verizon. The update didn't give me any other problems that I know of. Strange some Verizon folks would get the junk and others not.

Do you have DT Ignite active by any chance? I'm on Verizon and didn't get those games installed with the update. My understanding of DT Ignite is that it is responsible for this sort of behavior. I've had it Disabled from Day 1.

I did this with gmail, except you can't delete the app and redownload it. I used this dns app and it fixed everything.

For those with problems with Wi-Fi notifications, it seems to be a ipv6 bug and the way to fix it is to disable ipv6. One way to do that is to use a VPN which will disable ipv6 and use ipv4. The other way is for those without root, you can fix this issue without root by using the app DNSet from the Google Play store. You hit 1 button (the one and only button), and it turns off IPv6, and problem solved.

I tried to use DNSet and a message come up on my screen that says "DNSet wants to set up a VPN connection that allows it to monitor network traffic. Only accept if you trust the source". There's an OK and Cancel button, but for some reason it only allows me to press the Cancel button...strange

Those not getting junk apps, do you perhaps have DT Ignite debloated or disabled? From what I understand, that is an app that quietly installs junk on your phone.

Ah, you'd beaten me to it. Yes, I have it debloated (actually I think I was able to just disable before the Debloater) and didn't get the extra crap installed with the updfate.

Are you running Lux? Put it to sleep and then you will be able to click OK most likely.

Shared photo rotation not fixed by Verizon update.

Worked for me!! Thanks

DT Ignite was one of those I hadn't really noticed before the update, but disabled it now.

Was at home today and got email notifications w/o issue over wifi. No changes made to my phone.

Tried it at work while on wifi and no notifications, but as soon as I opened anything that connected (ie Google Play store), it notified me of the email. Odd.

Mine was doing something very similar. I did a soft reset, and seemed to fix it. My lingering problem is WiFi won't automatically connect at work like it does at home. Trying to connect through the popup window showing the available networks rarely works, but going to WiFi in Settings and connecting there seems to work more reliably so far.

So it looks like DNSet has to be running full time for the fix to be active. Is that the case?
Yeah, and I don't like that about it, so I uninstalled it.

I'll manually fetch or just watch my PC browser for new emails at work. Usually don't get any while at home.

What's your issue with this? I'm curious as I have this installed.
