Lets not forget the Wireless N capabilities,the 2 GB internal storage is huge,i much better screen resolution,and a led flash on the camera,you are right it depends on what you need in a phone,but as i can see most V owners want to run games,play movies via netflix,now the only real reason to want to root would be to ditch the bloatware,out of the box this phone will do so much more then the V,without having to deal with overclocking and installing bugged custom Rom to achieve performance.the only thing i can find that the triumph will not have over the V is the battery life.and that will be answered when released,i like the V,but as time moves on you will find yourself beating a dead horse.

I can guess the battery life on the Triumph will stomp on the Vs battery life. Just from my experience with Motorola products is they tend to have the better battery lives. Of course I always had rooted phones and was able to optimize them to my liking
Too many to list with each carrier releasing 20+ androids by year end. Samsung Dart, Samsung Conquer, HTC Wildfire S variations, HTC Desire S variations... just a few off the top of my head.
I hope you are right, but the Triumph has a smaller battery than the OV and a much larger screen.
Hell, I would drop my Nexus S if Virgin Mobile decides to offer more devices like these.

What I would kill for is a battery with twice the capacity of ours. I don't care about having the phone be slightly thicker if can use this phone for 3 days under heavy load and 8 days (!!!) on idle.
One thing i noticed when watching "hands-on with Triumph" videos that i hope is fixed in the final production of phones is the responsiveness of the screen. It happened several times when someone would slide to one screen and the screen would not respond after a few times...hope that isn't one of the issues when released

In a video the Motorola rep was saying only about 500megs left for apps. A big improvement, but far from 2gigs.
I have 300 N on my laptop, and honestly, for surfing the internet, it doesn't matter one bit. Most people's internet isn't much, if any, faster than G. N is good for internal file sharing for the most part, and that is about all and even then, you only see a big advantage on movie size files, which will mean moving to the SD, which would fall in between N and G in terms of speed.
As for battery, it may be smaller, but Motorola is considered pretty good at stretching battery life.
Also, this phone is still running Froyo and there isn't even a mention of it getting Gingerbread, which has at least been rumored that the V will get it. If I remember right, Motorola is considered the WORST when it comes to software updates, so how would you stack the phones if the V gets gingerbread and this is stuck on Froyo? While I agree, the triumph is a better, phone, I disagree about it leaving the V in the dust.The Triumph isn't exactly brand new tech either.

I certainly beg to differ with you there. I'm not sure what you have been running, but Harmonia is every bit as stable as stock, if not more.
i think the crown of worse company when it comes to software updates is Samsung...those poor galaxy users...shame what they went through hehe
Quick question. I know that we like to "flash" roms via the recovery because obviously it is safe, and it is the only way to change the kernel, but is it technically possible to change roms while the phone is booted up if you leave the kernel unchanged? Lets say you only had root access on Triumph, could you replace the files in the /system/ folder by running some cleaver script. Then, after a reboot, you'd have your new rom loaded? I've seen most of the rom installation scripts, and they don't really do anything special besides flash the kernel, copy files over to the system folder, fix permissions, and create links. So, even with a locked bootloader, shouldn't it be possible to manually change the rom files with root access and leave the kernel untouched? Or by locked bootloader, do they mean that all system files are read only? I assume it to mean that only the recovery is locked.
Check out the Samsung Prevail thread on Android Forums. They have managed to get root, but do not yet have a custom recovery. From what I have been able see from reading the posts they have been loading some tweaks and some sort of "custom ROM" using a bat file from the pc and debugging mode. Not sure exactly how they are doing it but you might want to talk to the devs.

i do not know what type of home network/internet your running maybe dial up or DSL,but my ipod touch and any other N capable computers i fix or use at my house the speeds are a real big difference between G maybe because i have the Verizon Fios 35/35, i am getting more then double the U/D speeds over G,so that in itself is a big deal at least for me.as for updates for either we shall wait and see..
Um, yeah, Fios is about the fastest thing you can get in the US, and has limited deployment.
As of a year ago (it hasn't changed much, if at all), the average internet speed was 3.8 in the U.S. You have 10 times the nation average broadband speed. The U.S. currently ranks 28th in internet speed worldwide. I have customers who can barely get 1.5 and most barely have 3.
As I said before though, for surfing, it really doesn't matter much anyhow. At some point, for just surfing, your ping makes a bigger difference than your download speed.
And no, I'm not on dial up or some crappy hodgepodge home network. Not by a long shot.
Okay then by your thinking why do i notice a big difference between an N and G network must be the hardware, which is available to everyone,5 years ago when N first came out i would agree but now i have seen the proof first hand,so explain this,and my pings are between 3 and 5,and that really only comes into importance when running peer to peer multiplayer video games.

Wireless N also uses on avg 3x more power to run. We might be lucky and they some how figured out a way to reduce the power consumption but that will just reduce its benefits. Here is a good resource for entry level info.
