I respect peoples opinions of various things.
What bugs me is when people post things like what has been posted in this thread. Nobody has had a chance to play with the phone just yet that is posting in the thread, yet there are people trying to convince others the phone is just the best thing since sliced bread.
Facts are facts, most if not all of what I have posted are based off facts. I owned a DX, I was convinced to buy it over the Dinc. I probably would have bought a Dinc had I known at the time the bootloader was locked tighter then ft knox. But even after that phone each phone Moto has put out has been a major let down. The D2, teh Atrix, DX2 , The Droid Pro, all have been huge let downs. Then to find out this is just a rebranded phone and truthfully moto's way of getting into the prepaid market. I dont hold my breath. If HTC or LG was to be offering a better phone ala prepaid I would be more impressed. But moto has a ****ty track record. I hope Im proven wrong.
If this truly was a high end phone, well it wouldnt be launching on VM. Moto has contracted with Huawei to launch a phone in to the prepaid market and instead of maybe developing a new phone they took a existing phone slapped Motorola on it, changed a couple internals and called it a triumph. It is well known that the Huawei phones arent the greatest in the world. And really dont rank that high in quality. But because this phone says Motorola on it it is magically going to be super duper great. I dont buy that. That is why I refuse to class this as a high end phone. It is merely Moto's way of getting into the prepaid market without having to actually develop a phone.
I believe the main reason they rebranded a Huawei phone is because it is cheap. The Ideos X6 was basically made to be rebranded. If Motorola had personally built the phone, it would no doubt be expensive, but since we are paying full retail price for it, they can't allow the phone to be expensive. Motorola has never been know to make budget phones, so they went to someone who was. I believe it is more of a price issue, not a laziness issue.
And you are talking about all the things Motorola does wrong, but as we know, this phone is only a Motorola phone because they slapped that M in a circle on the back of it. If all they did was brand it and tell Huawei to use a different radio, then those Motorola problems you mentioned shouldn't litter this phone.
And yes, it isn't a secret Huawei's quality is extremely questionable, but what do you expect from a prepaid phone under 300 dollars? A solid gold back plate? A built in air conditioner? Would you like the whole thing covered in diamonds? Obviously cuts have to be made when being economically friendly, and I personally would rather the cut be on build quality and not performance. We've all seen what happens when they cut performance.
And when it comes to the performance of the device, it seems like we're well equipped here. The same processor that is in the HTC Thunderbolt and nothing but the stock frozen yogurt we know and love for it to push along seems like a good combination to me. We don't know for sure if it is going to actually perform as well was we're hoping, but so far there doesn't seem to be any evidence against it. It ran smoothly in all the hands in videos I've seen with it.
I don't know what makes you consider a phone high end, the quality of the device or the performance of it, but I personally think this COULD be considered high end. There may be dual cores out there, but so far, these single core phones are still coming out and doing extremely well.
