New Virgin phone, Motorola Triumph | JULY19 | $300

the new plans come into effect for new accounts on july 20. you can either get the V now, or get the triumph on the 19th and activate it before the 20th to keep the 25$ plan :p

Just picked up theTriumph at Best Buy. The mobile rep could not activate it. She called VM and was told it could not be activated until the 20th. I swapped my Optimus V so hopefully I will still be grandfathered in.

If you know how to do the manual activate you can activate it. Go read that thread posted back a few pages on howard forums. They tell you how to do it.

I picked up the Triumph at BB in San Diego - Carmel Mtn Ranch. They didn't have it on display, but had 5 locked up. I was able to activate the phone no problem. Loving it so far.
$299, but found a 10% off coupon online

For all you socal people, the bestbuy mobile store INSIDE the lakewood mall (lakewood, ca) is selling their triumphs already, I just got one today, its great so far, we'll see about the battery life though.

btw gingerbreak seems to work for easy root access!

hows the screen? read some people have said the colors look dull and washed out

I could see how someone could say that, the screen does not seem like a super-quality one. Strength wise, it should be good because of the gorilla glass, but the colors aren't the best I've ever seen, and also multitouch is limited to two points. The thing is, there is this thin layer of something over the screen, so thin I wouldn't have noticed it unless someone else mentioned it. I don't want to pull it off, I'm not sure if it's supposed to be there. This is a layer underneath the protective layer it came with (so yes, it looks like it comes with two layers!). I wonder if the color issue would be improved by removing that second layer over the screen, if I decide to do it, I'll report back.

I was able to activate the phone by just clicking the activate button when I turned on the phone. I think there are issues with new accounts and porting #s.
The screen is very bright, but I can see how people think the colors are a little washed out. not a big deal for me.
The speakers are also much louder than the optimus

Boynton Beach Mall Best Buy Mobile store here in Boynton Beach, Florida FTW!

Anyway, I've read a lot of people are having activation issues with phone swaps (existing customers), as was I... I tried a combo of two methods and it worked.. I hope this will help some others:

Virginmobileusa site, signed in. --->swap phone--->entered in meid from box 2x. Kept getting an error, then got an email that the swap was successful. (you may have to repeat this process until that email comes)

Then I went into the phone, entered in ##847446#--->edit--> put in my phone # on first line, then the network ID # given in the email from vm on the second line.--->reboot phone.

Once phone has rebooted---> "activate" icon--> follow on screen instructions---> the programming completed, the phone rebooted and there ya go!

:)
