I'm having absolute problems receiving calls through groove. I've tried everything through the FAQ and have searched everywhere. And i cannot find the option to forward to chat and not phone(as I'm assuming this is my prob) anyone have any suggestions? I've been through Google voice settings, Gmail settings, and i am at a loss. Can anyone give a pointer or suggestion?

It has been a long time since I messed with GrooVe IP, but I recall having a problem when I did or did not have the area code entered, or I had it entered and had to delete it. Currently, I have it entered under settings, miscellaneous, default area code. Check your area code settings everywhere.

I hope this helps...

If you haven't forwarded calls to Google Chat then you won't be able to receive calls in the app. The user guide has some screen shots of the checkbox http://www.snrblabs.com/snrb/Apps/GrooveIP/UserGuide.aspx. If the checkbox isn't showing up in your account you'll have to contact the Google Voice support.

I found my problem. When i started Google voice a while back it gave me a random number that i assumed would be my number but, when going through the walkthrough you gave me, i couldn't find anything i hadn't already done. So i decided to change my gv number and sure enough after i got myself a more local number the option to forward to Google chat showed up.

Thanks for the quick response! Appreciate it!

Thanks for the update. Glad you figured it out.

I've got a strange question that may be pushing it but it needs to be asked. Honestly the dialer is ugly as hell. So today I been working on theming it to match my miui theme. Do you think that you can add the ability to theme it or would you mind if I posted a how to on theming it.
Normally I wouldn't ask but snrb has been really responsive and I respect that.

Honestly I'm not even sure how we would go about letting people change the dialer or add themes. It's not something I've looked into. If you have ideas or are willing to work with us shoot me an email at snrb.labs@gmail.com. I'd be willing to incorporate whatever you've got into the app.

That was a fast response. I'm gonna put something together probably by the end of the day and email you.

Edit: Forget it, these guys work hard at listening to what we have to say and I think that's important. Sorry, wasn't really thinking when I posted this.

If anyone is having problems with this or would prefer an easier VOIP client, give talkatone a go. It's only in alpha, but it's free and I can confirm that it has a much smaller delay on an equivalent network speed and is packaged quite nicely. Here's the link:

Talkatone Preview for Android

Enjoy! :)

Thanks I was hoping we wouldn't have to go this whole thread talking about groove ip.

I am still having an issue with GrooveIP not connecting to some local phone numbers.
When I go through GV on my laptop and call the same number it works.
It just happens when I use GrooveIP and the person at the other end answers I get disconnected immediately.

Make a call from Gmail on your PC. Log in to www.gmail.com using a computer web browser. On the left side find "Call phone" and make a call using that. Should fix the issue. Also make sure to dial with an area code when using GrooVe IP.
