New VOIP option for GV - single app solution: GrooVe IP

third this question:
"Anyone who has it working well want to share the rundown of their settings? "

I have found some difference between CPU settings. Right now I'm using Smartass2 with 600 min MHZ and 787 max MHZ.

For me the speaker phone tends to be better then using the regular phone.

What makes the most difference is the use of a wired headset. If I have a strong wifi signal the call quality is usually pretty darn good. I've got a couple of wired headsets because I like them at the gym and work. I can click the button on the headset to answer calls and to pause music.

I have echo cancellation UNCHECKED
Post processing CHECKED
Microphone gain at -6

I have been having trouble with the person on the other end hearing me, since the last update.
Has anybody else had the same problem

What version of the app do you have? 1.2.10 introduced an issue that caused no audio, we backed out that change in 1.2.12

That's the version(1.2.12) I have. I have also checked keep on screen and audio routing in troubleshooting to see if that fixes the issue.
Now I just need someone to call

edit: I should have made that clear the first time

Optimus V doesn't need audio routing. Would disable that.

Version 1.2.13:

- Fix the Allow 3G/4G calling checkbox on the Galaxy Nexus.
- Improve the dialer screen for small screens.
- Make the auto answer time configurable. (Time before app sends a '1' after you pick up an incoming call)

I have been have an issue with the new release 1.2.13.
On some outgoing calls when the other person picks up I just get a buzzing sound and they can't hear me and obviously I can't hear them.
The sound is like a busy signal but instead of buzz buzz buzz it is buzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.
It doesn't happen all the time but enough it is getting annoying.
OBTW, I like the new icon:cool:

The app sends the call to Google Voice and it makes the call and connects it. Not sure what would cause a steady tone to play.

Do you have the echo canceler enabled?

Might want to try a clean install of the app (uninstall, restart the device, install the app), I know if something gets corrupted it can cause weird issues. But a random tone on random calls sounds like it may be an issue on the Google Voice side.

Yes echo canceler is enabled.
This seemed to only occur after the last update, but I can check the GV settings and reinstall the app.
Thx

Ya, the only tone the app plays is the auto-detect echo canceler one. There weren't changes to that in 1.2.13. 1.2.13 had only a bug fix for the Galaxy Nexus, a new troubleshooting option (which does nothing unless you change it), and a UI change for small screens.

Would it be possible to expand on the available options for partial wake lock?

After updating to gingerbread, I'm noticing an issue where as soon as my screen shuts off I start to have issues with the person on the other end of the call hearing me. Turning on 'partial wake lock' seems to rectify this issue, but I really don't want to keep this on all the time due to the hit on battery life.

1. Could there be a setting 'enable partial wake lock ONLY during a call' that would do what the setting says? that way i can have a functional groove ip without having to always have a partial wake lock on?

2. Also, that setting request aside, does groove ip disable the partial wake lock when it isnt signed in? i would think that's how it should work..

GrooVe IP will maintain the lock while it is running. I hadn't thought about expanding that option but what you suggest makes sense. I'll try and get that in for the next update. Till then you can use the Keep Screen Alive checkbox, that should fix it as well.

Even though I don't use GrooveIP myself, I've been watching this thread since it began last spring, knowing that GrooveIP was an option in case I (or my wife) should approach the ceiling on our VM mins.

And I have to post this now: I am simply blown away by the support and attention provided by this dev! I cannot think of any other commercial vendor - anywhere - who provides this kind of fast and direct response. It is simply amazing!

I would buy anything from these guys if and when the need should arise.

I just had to say :)

OK I have my problem narrowed down(ie some calls not connecting)
It mostly happens on local exchanges, very weird, I know this is probably a GV issue but any ideas before I spend endless hours on searches?

Sorry, unfortunately don't have any good ideas.
