Next Honor phone for USA?

The only unknown at this point is that will it ever be upgraded to Android Oreo. So far no signs to that. Security updates are coming in slowly though and unclear if they will continue in 2018.
I am definitely concerned about the Oreo update which I've used Oreo before when I had the Nexus 6p and Oreo was set up nicely. I'm wanting it more so as I'm hoping that update is better optimized for better battery life for the honor 8. Also it's a mental thing wanting the latest updates from which we all were told we'd get for buying the phone. If it never comes then I'll still use the honor as my daily phone but I'll just buy the Mate 9 sooner than later. Plus I'm in need big time of a larger screen device. Hopefully I'll be able to get the Mate 9 to be my media phone for movies are other things. The honor 8 is just easier to use on a daily basis. The Mate 9 is just too large to use daily but perfect to rotate out with the honor.
I am going to call them and make sure my phone is under warranty real quick. Stand by for an update.

Are you going to pick up a mate 9 now or wait until black Friday to see if there are any deals?

If you want to upgrade then it's cool but it shouldn't be because the current phone is defective. That should be taken care of under warranty

It's not defective. There's a lot of people complaining with the same issues. There's a couple work around with it but not a permanent fix

Oh I'll definitely wait as I need to sell my Axon 7 mini first and I've not had any bites so far. I would have waited anyway to try and find the best deal I can. I'd like to get the Mate 9 but it doesn't have to be only it. If I find a deal on another larger screen phone I would probably just go for it as it's going to be my second device and not used every day. I'll rotate them out on a regular basis but if I was able to choose it would definitely be the mate 9 that I'd get.

Let me know if you need any help, I have sold a few items on Swappa so I can give you a few tips if needed

I appreciate that. I'm just gun shy of swappa as the only transaction I've done on there turned out to be the guy tried to scam me and sold me a defective device. The bottom portion of the screen was totally discolored and he sold it to me knowing that. I of course got my money back but it ended up being a huge hassle on me. I was not happy about it. I've yet to send back all the accessories that I had bought for that defective phone back to Amazon so I still need to get to the UPS store and get my money back. He cost me money and hardship.

Yeah unfortunately, things happen. I have had issues but they all got resolved ok. A little headache of course but such is life buying and selling used stuff. Heck I have problems with new purchases too... This year alone amazon has lost like half a dozen of my orders. I have also received a few defective items even ones bought brand new.

Oh goodness man. I'm sorry to hear that. Yeah I know my deal was not typical but what got to me is that the guy knew very well that the screen was defective and still sold it to me. The reason I know he knew it was bc he tried to say it happened during shipment lol. That box was pristine and you could tell that discoloration had been there a while. He just thought I wouldn't notice bc unless you were on a white screen it was hard to see. But on a white screen you could easily tell and I picked up on it during the set up and I immediately called him and he was stuttering then he claimed it happened during shipping but I was mad at him at that point so he ended up sending me $25 dollars to ship it back plus he gave me the $10 dollar swappa fee and then he refunded me as soon as it was trackable in UPS site. You don't do all those things for someone if you truly didn't know it was already defective. It just left a bad taste in my mouth like wow who can you actually trust these days. I left him negative feedback as there is no doubt that he knew plus he cost me about $75 dollars in accessories that I've still not had the chance to send back yet plus it's going to be a huge hassle bc I've got separate ups labels for everything. Anyways I won't let that get in the way from me buying again from swappa as I know I'll have to take the leap of faith again. I hope to locate a deal on a Mate 9 on there when I get ready to buy one. That 5.9 inch screen will be awesome for movies and media type stuff and I'll rotate the two phones out quite a bit too. The honor 8 will no doubt be my main go to phone but there will be days or weeks where I'll use the Mate 9 full time too. It's just a big phone and hard to put in your pocket. I wonder how the 1080p looks on the mate 9 as that is a very large screen to only be using 1080p. Does anyone know if it's amoled or not? I've not heard either way or not. I would hope so. 1080p is fine on the honor 8 bc it's only 5.2 inches but you're talking right at a 6 inch screen just to only have 1080p. Anyone know if this has been an issue on viewing experience? I know it's great for battery life. By the way I've done a lot of stuff in settings to help preserve my battery life on my honor 8 which has gotten better from when I first got it. I optimized it to shut down most all the apps from running in the background after I stop using them. That helped a lot. I left my email open to refresh and Instagram open to refresh. I definitely shut down YouTube as it was a battery hog and killer in the background until I optimized it. Now my stand by battery is much better.

Mate 9 is an LCD display. My phone is 6.3". I don't see a significant difference between 1080p and higher. But it depends on your eyes
