Nexus 10 (2013) Leaks and Info

Its not like they have been doing a consistent annual refresh for the past 10 years, we hardly have a trend given the dates you listed

Exactly. The only pattern is they refreshed the 7, ONCE and it was exactly one year. That is hardly a pattern. The phones seem to be ROUGHLY a year.

No Nexus 10 2 Release Date for 2013 Black Friday as Google Mulls Rollout of 10-Inch Chrome OS-Powered Slate Instead?
I saw this story in International Business Times. It essentially says one blogger has stated that the Nexus 10 2 as an Android devise may never see the light of day. It will be issued as a Chrome OS tablet, probably next year. Although this again is as unconfirmed as everything else it at least makes sense in terms of everything that is not happening.Perhaps those of us contemplating a purchase should consider a non-Nexus

That website and the "Christian Times" have both been making up random rumours for the past month

Exactly they have a new article out literally everyday with some "new" information. At the end of the day 99% of what they are writing is a guess, eventually they will get it right haha

The people who write for those websites are clowns don't pay any attention to anything they say. They know no more about it than your grandmother does.

The Nexus 10 is more than adequate to remain a very viable strong tablet for yet another 6 months at least. It runs KitKat and has great specs and is super fast. I can hardly think of anything a new model N10 would have to offer over the current one. Sure you can always expect marginal improvements like use a newer SOC that would give you marginal performance increase, but the current N10 is not sluggish at all. New SOC and maybe a bigger battery would increase battery life, but the current N10 has more than adequate battery life for most. Higher resolution makes no sense so I doubt that will happen. New one might be a bit lighter. More storage is just not very important having currently 32GB. My point is that there isn't anything really significant missing in the current N10. Maybe wireless charging would be nice is all. Still the current N10 is formidable. If you don't have one then buy one. Woot just had it yesterday (32 GB ) for $280. And there are great deals on Craigslist or eBay.

I really can't believe that there are those that say they will consider an iPad Air. I'm not an Android zealot, but I feel that most people are either in one camp or the other. And that is fine. If you are waiting for the new then wait. And wait for however long. If you need something now then get an old N10. Then sell the old N10 when the new one comes out. That will make waiting easy. The current N10 is a great purchase now. You might break even if you sell it in the next couple months or at least it shouldn't deprecate much. If you really could consider an iPad Air then you probably are not really wanting the new N10, instead what you really want is the newest toy with indifference to what it really is. I would not trade my N10 for an iPad Air even if you paid me.

My question is if you are so interested today in the new N10 why didn't you buy the current N10 within the last year that it has been available? If you had then you wouldn't mind so much waiting now. If you are always waiting for the next best thing without getting anything then you'll never have anything. When you do get something learn to deal with the fact that it won't be the best for long.

The current N10 is so good that I'm not convinced I would upgrade. I will upgrade if it is significantly lighter and has wireless charging. But for now I'm very happy with my current N10. I'm not really missing anything.

Sorry if my comments insult anyone. It is not my intention.

Try using multiple user accounts for a short period of time and performance will go straight out the window. This thing can't keep up on a daily basis between my girlfriend and I. Sorry but ur usage does not equal every one else's. I would love to have a light faster and sleaker nexus 10

Was chuckling to myself. Now that black friday has come and gone, saw a post somewhere that said cyber monday. Once AC or somewhere else credible posts something Ill start getting my hopes up.

It didn't get released today, Cyber Monday. I am starting to think the Nexus 10.2 isn't ready for release. Like there's a problem holding it up.

Or...there was never any intention of releasing it now in the first place. Either is possible, but given the lack of leaks or info, I'm beginning to think that Google never had the intention of releasing an N10 successor in 2013. I'd have to think that if it were just "a problem holding it up", then we would have still seen leaks and had more information by now, but all we really have is rumor and speculation. At no point has Google EVER said that there would be a new N10 in 2013.

For anyone sitting on a fence about buying an N10 within the past few months waiting for a new version, this has to kinda suck....but it's not like anything was ever promised by Google. I'm just glad I have my original N10 and I still enjoy it quite a bit (wouldn't be buying a new one this time around anyway). As I mentioned in an earlier post on this thread I've seen speculation (and it's nothing more than that), that Google had intended for their 10" tab to be on an 18 or even 24 month cycle, rather than 12. Due to the fact that it's considerably more expensive, sells considerably less units and it's not the type of item folks upgrade yearly, I actually think this theory could hold merit...and wouldn't be surprised if we didn't see the new N10 until spring/summer, possibly alongside the 2014 N7 (if there is one)?

(And to be honest, while I would not be buying a new N10 right now...my tune may very well change in a few months if the hardware is impressive enough).

Of course, maybe they really did want to release one this fall, and maybe there was a problem with production, and maybe their "damage control" team did an unprecedented job at not letting any of that info get out to the masses...who knows?

It really does suck - but you would think they would at least announce that they aren't doing it if it was the case - that way people can choose to maybe buy the N7 or existing N10 instead? I think that kind of silence can only hurt them in the long run if they are not going to do it.

As one of those who has been watching tech blogs for release info on this since October, I now have zero expectation of seeing anything in the near future. I'm a big Google fan and love my first Gen N7. I had taken for granted that there would be an N10 refresh and that that would be the 10" tab for me. I never bothered to explore any other options. Well, when Black Friday came and went, I decided to take a little peek at the other contenders. Sure enough, the Samsung S-Pen concept, which I always assumed was little more than a gimmick, has completely won me over. I've been moving toward a largely paperless household and use my N7 as a productivity workhorse. I am that person who WILL use the S-Pen, and actually think that it's functionality has been the one little thing that has been missing from my streamlined work flow, and I'm just now realizing it.

So... Got a decent cyber Monday deal and pick it up tomorrow. I hope the N10 is eventually pushed out for those who are committed and patient. I have no doubt that, if released, it will be unbelievable. I'm kind of glad for Google's forced "cooling off" period, though, so that I could open my mind to other possibilities! :-)

Sure, AP is good enough...but there really isn't any info here, just speculation. I'm not disputing the validity of this article, I'm just saying that they really don't know anymore than we do (but at least they don't claim to either).

I agree 100%...but that just doesn't seem to be the way it works in this industry, no matter what manufacturer you're talking about. It's rare that a company comes out and says, "we know there have been rumors, but honestly, we will not be ready to release this product any time soon".

Thanks for this tip. I just ordered a Note 10.1 2014 Edition. I'm tired of waiting for the Nexus 10.2.

Since I am not going to put the S-Pen to use, the Note 10.1 isn't very enticing to me. I will wait a couple more weeks just in case the new nexus 10 is released otherwise ill seriously begin considering other tablets.

I honestly believe that there must be some sort of problem holding it up.

From a purely sales & marketing standpoint, they are missing out on golden shopping days prior to the Holidays, so I'm sure that they would have it out already if they had the ability to do so.

I just wish they would provide a little more information about what's going on, but if there is an issue, then they might not know themselves.

For all of you who were wondering about what I would do I analyzed this thing to death. On the one hand I had a android tablet and phone and was familiar with the system, on the other hand my current tablet was aging rapidly and there were only baseless rumors about the new Nexus 10, and on the third hand the Apple iPad Air was so cool looking and had some nice features and since Google never really said that there ever would be a Nexus 10 and I was able to get the new Air for $50. less I did so. I am not sorry. What I am sorry for is those who have a "loyalty" to a tool. That is all an Android tablet is - a tool for gathering and using content. Its like being "loyal" to a hammer when what you need is a wrench. I got the Air and am loving it. Who knows - when I tire of this I may get an Android version 99, if it is the best product at the time.

Yes and no.

I don't think Google makes a substantial amount of profit (if any) from their Nexus lineup. I thought the line was more to push the Android Brand than to make a lot of money. Along those lines missing the 2 big spending dates doesn't affect the immediate bottom line, so they would not be missing much from a profit perspective (which Black Friday and Christmas are all about).

There is good brand penetration for Android already (market share keep increasing), I don't think they need to push something out just because someone else did.

I hope they do make a new one, I like my Nexus 10, and I am sure people would love a refresh. But I don't think they need to push one out tomorrow to be relevant. This is a battle that is never won, someone will always trump you tomorrow with a new release.
