Nexus 2015 Rumored to be Patterned After LG G4/G4 Note

It'd be nice if LG used the new Nexus as an opportunity to take a whack at integrating two front facing speakers into one of their designs. Although, given all the $$$ they're throwing into curved displays, that's probably not even a remote possibility for LG designers/engineers. Still, a 5.7 LG phablet could be wondrous thing if LG/Google work some useful phablet actions into the software.

That's the rumor.
It's going to be a beast of a phone.
Can't wait. :)

It will be interesting to see. It makes some sense that the screen size would be 5.7", with the numbering scheme. I still wonder if it would be called the Nexus 7, or something else along those lines.

I could be confusing if the LG version has "Note" in it, but they did not ask my opinion. ;)
Also interesting if the Nexus ends up having a stylus.

Perhaps Google will implement some form of multitasking features. I recall reading something about that for future devices. It would be odd, to say the least, though. I'm also not sure about there being acurve in the next Nexus and how it would affect usability. Time will tell, I guess. I do expect a QHD IPS display, which LG is known to use, and which would be cooler and less saturated than SAMOLED.

It's all but assured to be on a Note 5, and I can't imagine the beast that phone will be. If Google wants to conpete with the likes of the Note 5, they better bring their A+ game. Either way, it seems Google's going for it.

I was hoping for a Sony Nexus this time around. However, a Samsung Nexus would be a dream now.

Note in my house!

would love if this were true. replacing my nexus 4 and s4, a 5.7 64 bit lg nexus would be perfect ... just give me a decent camera and solid battery and it'll last me 3-4 years. USB-C would also be nice

If I were to guess right now at this moment, I think that Google will stay the course with the phablet-sized phones, which means the next Nexus will be based off of the supposed G4 Note, which is the higher end release. Which means that it'll also be made of metal. Also, I think it's possible that LG might use its own in-house processor for it, if Google signs off on it. I just hope that it has the band support of the Nexus 6 and a large battery (at least 4,000 mAh). Front-facing speakers are a plus, but LG isn't known for that.

How much Google is interested in "staying the course" or maintaining something like a design identity as they go forward with the Nexus series is the big question. I mean, if front-facing speakers show up on one iteration but disappear on the next only to be replaced by a stylus in a later iteration, are they doing themselves any favors? Display type or display size variations as well as processor power are more a matter of what's available at the moment, but design elements like the speakers and the stylus seem to be a different matter. Speaking for myself, after using an M8 for the past year, I'm just not interested in getting any phone that doesn't have front-facing speakers (unless it also happens to have built-in magic powers). I'm wondering if the N6 won't make its owners just as neurotic.

Good point, I agree with you about the speakers. How can they justify LG's speaker placement for the next phone, after those on the 6? Unless LG is planning a design revamp, it would kinda be disappointing. As for a stylus, I have no use for one, especially at the expense of quality speakers.

Being an LG made device, I'd expect the next Nexus to have double tap to wake and a notification LED, however.

I read something today that mentioned USB-C will be part of the next Nexus.

I'm still sticking to my Nexus 6 for another year possibly. But these rumors are very interesting. I'll keep my eye on this one for sure.

If the next Nexus is to be based off of the supposed G4 Note, which is LG's higher-end device, and it has front-facing speakers and ample battery, I can hold off on getting the 6. I'm just very wary of the plastic back of the phone, held together with glue, possibly coming undone. I want the phone for the stock experience, but seeing as how I plan on keeping it for a while, I want quality if I'm paying upwards of $700. Although the speakers on the 6 are tempting, I want a bigger battery.

nice, that would really future proof it ... expect to get 3-4 (closer to 3) out of it, advancements not as significant year to year as they once were. usb-c with 64 bit and a solid battery would really close the deal for me.

where'd you read about it? thanks!

They will rightfully get sued by Samsung. No way they call it the note. Pretty sure that is just lazy journalism

Where was Rick Grimes when we needed him a few 1000 years ago. He could have prevented all this stupidity.
