Nexus 5: First Impressions & Reviews

I'm coming from iphone 5 and before this android never impress me but I'm glad N5 prove me wrong...This phone very fast, disolay very gorgeous, I love my exchange email running smoothly and mail stock app have beautiful layout and display...so far the cons is battery life, beside that I'm glad switch from my iphone to N5

Nexus 5 best and fast android experience ever. On September 20, 2013 I bought at AT&T the LG G2 for the amount of $540.00. The G2 was the fastest at that moment, but for reasons I can't explain cause I'm not an expert { not even root, just stock running at AT&T } the Nexus 5 is faster than the G2. After I download the official Kit Kat 4.4.2 upgrade via OTA my former G2 freaks out, the knock on screen was broke and I have to use the zoom for open my paid apps at Google Play Store. I was frustated and angry. I don't send the G2 to LG for repair, this phone was on the one year warranty. I just was angry and decided to keep the G2 till the Samsung Galaxy 5S 32GB internal memory arrives at AT&T, pitiful no 32GB at AT&T today June 1, 2014. My G2 dies the first week of May and I order my Nexus 5 at Amazon. On May 16, 2014 my Nexus 5 arrived and I'm a happy old man again. Don't know why but the Nexus 5 is faster at internet, searching in the web, playing games etc. Don't read me wrong, the G2 is a great phone and I don't want to create a controversy here. Maybe , and just maybe , when the knock on screen broke after the Kit Kat upgrade my G2 decided to die. The Nexus 5 is manufacture by LG so no hard felling here, I'm no longer angry and was reading about the LG G3, its a beast. Well, I don't see me with a 5.5 screen phone in my jeans pockets. Still waiting for the Galaxy 5S 32GB, then I will know if the 5S is faster than my Nexus 5.

Hi, I have read loads and before I commit to buy a nexus 5 can anyone tell me if they have now fixed any speaker and or gps issues? I use it loads in my car, and saw they changed things regarding this.
Thanks

I don't recall ever having a problem with the GPS or the speakers. Could you elaborate?

Sent from my iPad Air. Simply better than the rest.

I have read in many places that before software change and speaker grill change it was very quiet. Also gps complaints.
So it's all good then?

I don't know. I never saw those issues. So I would hope that they have been resolved.

I've had mine a little over 2 weeks. I would say it's all *great* now. I would recommend getting it from Google Play Store, and 32GB. You get 15 day return policy and if you have any problems(RMA) I think they send you a new one and then you return your defective one. Good luck on whatever you get! :D

I wasnt aware of any GPS issues. Ive never had one either but if you mean is the speaker still weak, then the answer is yes. Still could be louder. Its not terrible but im comparing it to my GS3 which was pretty loud. The N5 isnt as loud.

For notification sounds, I believe the stock ones are very quiet. I really liked a couple of the sounds on my old Vivid, so I found them on Zedge and they're significantly louder than the bulk of the stock sounds.

Re: Using my new nexus5 right now

Hey everyone! I totally love the Nexus 5. So much to the extent that i have advised others to buy the phone. I love the design and the build's not bad at all. And the phone is fast, really fast. Great processor and great 2 gb ram! I have even done a review on it. Check the link. You'll love it!

Re: Using my new nexus5 right now

Does the N5 have badges for the gmail, hangouts, and phone apps? Thanks:p

Nope, but a launcher can easily solve that issue.

Re: Using my new nexus5 right now

Hi all, I have just moved from a Galaxy S4 to a Nexus 5 and I am loving it. I do miss a few Galaxy features but on the whole I am liking this phone.

A couple of minor issues so far are; no battery percentage shown on the notification bar and no app that lists my videos by name (only thumbnail). I am missing the toggles the S4 had in the pull down menu as well tbh.

Its worth it for the bloatware-less experience though! Just need to adapt to view battery percentage with the two finger pull down menu etc.

By doing a custom rom, you can have all the customisations you want, yet keep the stock feel. I like the % for battery myself.

Re: Using my new nexus5 right now

Unfortunately I have had many phones. however by far the Nexus 5 has taken the rest of them to school. the development and ROM's available and community support for problems have been second to none of my of my other phones. Definitely a great purchase
