So recently I shipped my nexus 5 to lg due to a defect. The phone was running lollipop via ota and upon receiving it it is only on 4.4.4 and so far I have not gotten another ota. Even weirder is that the phone is running a KitKat/lollipop hybrid. Any ideas as to why I haven't gotten another ota?? (I'm 100% stock)

Have you checked for software updates?
As far as it being a "hybrid," it isn't. There are just some Google Apps that update separate from the OS and those have Material Design.

There is also the factory images if you would like to "force" the update without having to wait.

The N5 Lollipop updates were suspended more than once, because of bugs. They may be in a suspended state again. (Maybe they'll convince the powers that be that marketing can't develop ROMs and let programming start doing the development again. Then they'll scrap Lollipop and come out with 6.0 as a working ROM. Patching patched patches is no way to run a railroad.)

As an explanation to why you're home screen looks like lollipop, Google recently updated the Google now launcher to give all devices a lollipop look.
