Nexus 5 ordering anxiety

Yes, I know the Nexus 5 hasn't even been officially announced yet.

But I was just thinking about all the craziness many of us went through on that day in which the N4 was first available. Phones disappearing from carts. Endless errors. Confusion on whether or not we got an order through. Some people seeing charges for multiple orders. Endless forum postings about the ordering process (followed soon thereafter with endless "It shipped!" and "wtf, mine hasn't shipped!" messages).

It's likely I'll want an N5. It's likely I'll feel the need to order one on day one. It's likely they'll be all sorts of ordering confusion. Will I spend hours clicking an "Add to Cart" button? Will I hit my head against the wall when the N5 disappears from my cart?

Yes, first world problems, I know. Wait a week or two after launch and those problems likely won't exist. Yet I still think about the whole process. Anyone else?

I'm not likely to jump into the day one fray. ...If the specs are great, the price is right, and the reviews are good I may jump in though.

You are correct, ordering day was a fiasco! But I have a request for everyone planning to do it again this year; would you all please wait until 1 minute after it goes live? That will give me time to get my order in, then you can have at it! ;)

If i buy one im waiting for the hype to and the bugs to be resolved. Im looking forward to my N4 getting and running 4.4 once the N5 is launched

I would hope so as well. We won't really know until the official release is made and demand for the device is known - hope to see an announcement soon.

I am sure that problem has been resolved. the order process for Nexus 7 2013 has been smooth and the device has never gone above 1-2 Business day

I think the demand for the N5 will far exceed that for the N7. Plus, N7 sales through big box retailers helped ease the online demand. You won't find the N5 at any of those stores. If the N5 is available in-store through any carrier(s), it will likely be priced with a significant mark up (e.g. N4 @ T-Mobile).

Be thankful... You don't have to worry about the issue at hand! :p

True however I wouldn't mind having this issue to worry about. Hell I might end up getting one just to play around with, like I did with the Samsung Galaxy Nexus. Besides, having an unlocked phone comes in handy for international travel.

The first go round, ppl were "dying to get a handset with 2gb ram and quad core processor in their hands"... but now that soooooo many phones with great specs have been out a while, ppl will have a lot more of a "wait & see attitude"...also, is it going to be selling as dirt cheap as $299? Prolly not, since their won't be an 8GB version.

Also, a lot of ppl were after the fact that it was "Vanilla Android", but so many developer versions of high end phones have come out, I don't think the same demand will be there... just my op : )

Assuming I will be purchasing one when it is released, my plan is as follows:

  1. Follow the announcement as it happens, whenever it happens.
  2. Order immediately.
You've got to be fast -- very fast -- but it's very possible to beat the rush and secure an order. I'm optimistic about a smooth ordering process overall, but it doesn't hurt to be proactive about it. ;)

But the day-one fray and excitement is what makes it so fun... and the shipping time so boring.

On the slim chance that Google releases a 64GB version of the Nexus5, I wonder how much craziness that will add to the ordering process we all get to experience.

I hope to be more on top of it this year. Last year ordering went live early. I was going to suspend my work for a bit and try to get an order in, but I had to go onsite to a customer that morning. I got back to the office about 10 minutes before the announced time, but the rest of you were already hard at it. :'(

I really hope they do. But I would settle for a 32gb.

For me , right now it's between the Note 3, HTC One Max and Nexus 5.
