Upon getting my new Nexus 5, my excitement was dulled a bit when I noticed there was a dead pixel right in the middle of the screen. I just wanted to throw out there that Google Customer Service quickly authorized a replacement, and I get to keep the original until the replacement comes. Downside, I get to wait 4-5 for the replacement.

Overall I'm very happy with how the situation turned out.

They're sending me out a replacement because my power button is looser than a porn star. I wouldn't have bothered for a little movement, but this thing rocks back and forth a ton. No questions asked and very accommodating.

My power button is like that as well, maybe not that loose it's part of the design

Earpiece mic was dead with my Nexus 5. Got a RMA setup within a hour of receiving the phone on Monday. My email said 3-4 weeks, but I actually got my phone this last Wednesday. Google has really improved their customer service since the Nexus 4 fustercluck.

i have either a spec of dust or dead pixel (black) top right corner, wondering if i should even bother with getting a replacement as i can only see it with my eye about 2-3 inches away from the screen... spoke too soon, found 3 other dead pixels when i checked again, 2 of them were middle of screen. and now i can see them at normal phone distance away (only with solid colors)...:(

The dead pixel was green

Edit: Darn missed the quote.

A dead pixel is always black. A stuck pixel is any other color. Lots of times you can fix a stuck pixel with the eraser trick or running one of the stuck pixel videos on YouTube.

I bought a new monitor a few years ago, and it had about 7 stuck pixels in the middle of the screen. I did the eraser trick and haven't had a problem since.

Ya, I had tried those tactics also.

Anyways the replacement has been shipped, surprisingly before the 4 week mark Ya!

What was the process to get the new device?

Did you have to submit some info online or did you call?

If so, what number did you call?

I may have to do the same for an issue on my device.
