Nexus 5: Sound issues :(

I've tried nav free & waze & my Nexus 5 doesn't play voice directions @ best it's sporadic & broken instructions arrrrrrgh!!! I've checked settings in both apps they are set for voice directions & volume is on max
With navfree it use to work just stopped please help cheers

Try clearing the cache to these particular apps in settings>apps.
