Nexus 5 with Lollipop impressions

I like the look of the new dialer.

I'm underwhelmed by battery performance it was better before. Now I have to use battery save mode and get barely comparable battery life.

Not a huge fan of the battery percentage page.

I should have had all my data backed up and done a factory reset. My phone is kind of jumpy and "fits and starts-y".

I like the animations but they're slow on my phone. I had to decrease the setting but I may just turn them off entirely.

Notifications are kind of unwieldy as another poster said.

I like the update but it isn't running optimally on my phone. I probably need to do the factory reset or something. Oh yeah, I don't like that I only get the option to power down when I press the power button.

I don't use a screen lock (call me crazy), so I wish there was a screen lock I could have activate *only* with pinned screens.

Not to me. It wasn't a % of a %, it was a % of used battery. It made perfect sense and clearly indicated what was using the battery in relation to everything else using the battery ("Wow- half my battery is gone! What used it up? Oh, 80% of it was this strange app I installed yesterday, 10% was screen, and 10% was everything else"). I do understand why some people were confused but a better solution would be to give the user a choice of what to display.

You think a circle better represents "home" than an icon of a house?

OK with choice on the battery thing, but if they had to pick one, this way is superior, without a doubt.

On the symbols, I think the new is cleaner, and since it's absolutely obvious what each button does, these are much better.

It sounds like something is wrong with your phone. Battery life should not be worse, and mine is smooth as silk. Maybe reinstall?

Did you wipe the cache partition? My N7 was jittery as hell until I did that, and fine afterwards.

Wellll..... Thanks but I think I'll try a cache partition wipe first. Hopefully that will help. :)

before when i pressed the volume button i was able to switch from having notification sound to vibrate to no sound. now it just shows a vibrate sign and no notification with a slash through it.

I believe you're meant to click "None" if you want silence, although that apparently will even silence things like Light Flow?

Yea that's what I meant but without being able to press the none button. Before it seemed easier just using the rocker button

My WiFi connection seems awfully slow now. Very frustrating, YouTube just buffers like crazy.

ETA: It's happening on cell data too, so now I don't know the cause. 😵

I just tried this but it has been on the wiping cache...formatting cache screen for about 5 minutes. How long does it normally take?

I think it can take about 15 minutes or more. I haven't done it yet, just going from what I've read.

So I just received the OTA. I have played around with it and have a couple of questions.

When I had the SG3, Touchwiz had hotbuttons on the lockscreen. They allowed you to choose which apps could placed as hotbuttons on the lockscreen. Does Lollipop allow us to change them? I would rather have texting than the phone.

The old Gallery now appears to be called Photos. When I selected it it said that I had to have Google+ active in order to use this app. Is there a workaround? Is there another 3rd party Gallery app the is recommended?

With the new notification ability, do I still need Notifyme? Lighton for LED notifications?

I forgot why I didn't like the old Calendar but I switched to Business Calendar on Kit Kat. Is the new Calendar app better?

I have been waiting for Lollipop improved the texting feature of Hangouts. It looks the same. I will likely pay the $3 for add free SMS8.

Thanks. It finished. The speed is better.

That's good to know. Maybe I'll try it. But I have to say, my phone behaves much better when not in battery saving mode. It's faster and smoother, almost as smooth as KitKat or just as.

You want to download QuickPic.
