Just replaced my Nexus 5 running Marshmallow by a Nexus 5X also running Marshmallow. I can pair the new phone over Bluetooth with my Asus ZenWatch but it never connects once it is paired. It behaves as if the pairing never happened. I never had this problem with my Nexus 5X, even with Marshmallow.

Added note: The new phone pairs and connects fine with my car over Bluetooth.
The new phone is running Android version 6.0 build # MDB08I :(

My ASUS Zenwatch and 5x are getting a long just fine. Did you factory reset your Zenwatch before paring with the 5x? Also note, I'm on the previous build of 6.0 (MDA89E). I'm not privileged enough to warrant the OTA update :(

I just came back here in fact to tell everyone that I solved my problem doing a factory reset of the watch, only to find out that you beat me to it.

I reset the watch out of desperation after several days of waiting for an update that would solve my problem thinking that the Android Wear app was the problem. How did you come to the same conclusion?
