Nexus 5X Owners: What phone are you coming from?

LG Nexus 4. Half of the lower touch screen became unresponsive a few weeks back. Autocorrect is saving me till I get the new nexus

Nexus 5 - which is now at the bottom of the Charles River in Boston. In the meantime i'm using a Nokia Lumia 710 :-(, can't wait to get my hands on the Nexus 5x!

Re: What phone will you be leaving behind???

For me, I'll be leaving my Galaxy S6. Can't wait to get rid of this phone. The battery stinks, and under heavy use, the phone slows to a lag and needs to be rebooted. 80% of the time it's the smoothest phone ever, but RAM management or Touchwiz shenanigans are still at play with this phone. If neither of the new Nexus phones are what I'm looking for, I'll likely get an iPhone 6s until next years flagships start rolling out.

How bad really is the S6? I'm torn between the 5X and the S6, as they're about the same price in the UK.

don't get me wrong, it's a really good phone. It just gets these slow downs about once a day that require a reboot. 80% of the time, the phone is fluid, fast, and responsive. But if you doing some multitasking or pushing the phone hard, it slows to a crawl with lag and is very unresponsive. A quick reboot fixes this issue. But ulitimately, it's what's going on under the hood with touchwiz. A phone this powerful and with this much RAM shouldn't require 1-2 reboots a day just to make it run good. Also, the battery life isn't good for me. I charge 1-2 times a day (and that's after pulling it off a full charge every morning when I wake up). And then there is the updates... I hate how slow Verizon and Samsung are with updates. this is the reason I've always been a Nexus fan. Quick updates straight from Google, no carrier or middle man to slow it down.

It really comes down to what you want. If you couldn't care less about updates and the battery/RAM issues don't bother you, then go with the GS6. It has an amazing screen and awesome camera. I just got my 5x and while I think the screen is great, I haven't had a chance to test out the camera. We'll see how it goes!

Moto x 2014 but not my choice. Spilled cider on it a couple months ago, riced it, but bricked almost two weeks ago. I'd have gone for the moto x pure but it's too damn big.

Re: What phone will you be leaving behind???

How is your transition going? I wish this phone were smaller like the Moto X and had the wakeup features of the Moto X.

Why not get a new Moto X 2014? I changed from Moto X 2013 and am having trouble getting use to the size of the N5X and miss the Moto X wake up features.

I feel the same way, but I really like the 5X. I miss feeling like a Jedi when I wanted to see the screen haha. My biggest reason I didn't get a new one is that it would have basically cost the same thing and it's already no longer supported by Moto. I had some serious cold feet the last two days wondering if I should have gotten a Moto X Pure, but it would have been way too huge in my hands. But in the end I also just don't want to loose support in under a year from a manufacturer. At least I know with the Nexus I have great customer support.

Will be switching over from my Note 5 on Monday with my White Nexus 32gb. The bloatware drives me nuts, can't get rid of the stupid calander and other apps. The sluggishness after using it for awhile and having to restart is annoying and having to wait until next year for M is rough for me with my impatient nature especially coming from Apple for 7 years.

Re: What phone will you be leaving behind???

Oh wow, it's been a long time since I've been on Android Central. I've been an Apple user since the 4S. Upgraded to the Note 2 when it came out, but quickly exchanged it to the iPhone 5. I've been using an iPhone 6 since November of last year. I ordered the 5X and it should be arriving on Monday. I'm going to fiddle around with it and see if it will keep me on Android for good. We'll see. No real compelling reason behind my jumping ship from Apple. I'm just ready for a change!

Droid Ultra (Verizon). Verizon/Moto never shipped the promised Lollipop upgrade for my old phone, so I am skipping Lollipop entirely and upgrading straight from KitKat to Marshmallow.

The Moto X Pure was top of my list until Moto's update reliability was called into question. I chose the 5X over the 6P for the smaller size.

I'm debating switching after reading reviews. Sounds a little underwhelming but I'll keep reading before making an official decision.

Me too. Still using a Nexus 4 and other than battery life issues and some random reboots it seems to be going strong on Lollipop. I just can't make a decision and the $50 dollar Google play credit offer ends today. So torn with all the somewhat negative comment I'm reading on the forums.
