Nexus 6 battery after one week

What charger are you guys using?

I've got a Powerbot "hockey puck". I have a heckuva time keeping it connected to both my N6 and N7. It'll take a lot of jimmying around to get connected, and then it'll disconnect from charging in the middle of the night. I have woken up with an uncharged battery often enough that I'm now plugging in from the start......

I use this one and it is great. Have had it for over a year now without a problem.

It's funny, I was just in the AT&T store buying a case and the rep was telling me how great the battery life on this phone is. So far, I don't think its great but its not bad either. I'll be using Juice Defender to help eak out a little more too so I think I'll be just fine.

I'm currently at 53% with 1 hour 49 minutes of screen time. Does this seem about right?

I took it off the charger at 8.30 this morning and it's been a fairly light usage day.

Wow. Do you have location services on and set for high accuracy? There's so many things that could cause battery drain.

No, I have location set to battery saver. Screen is pretty dim, I've been on WiFi all day, at home with a very good LTE signal.

Now at 35% with 2 hours 35 minutes screen on.

10% battery left. 3 hours 30 minutes screen on time. It came off charge 11 hours ago.

Last night when I factory reset it the only additional app I installed was Android Central, all other apps are as standard.

Wow. You may want to try Juice Defender and see if it makes any difference.

I think I'm done. I really don't want to have to work so hard at this. In every other way the Nexus is fantastic but this is a deal breaker.

You may need to get a replacement. Your stats are waaaaaay worse than almost everybody.....If you got it at your carrier, it'll be an immediate swap. Moto barely takes 2 days, though they'll put a $500 hold on your cc.

It's a great phone with decent battery when things are working well.....

Another thought. Try Wakelock Detector:

https://forums.androidcentral.com/e...zumapps.wakelockdetector&hl=en&token=E5jRnWcA

It'll show what apps are waking the phone and how often. The higher the number, the more the drain. There are several that are battery killers. I don't have any and am not sure of the list. I know Facebook is one.

Also, go into battery/settings. It shows what apps are draining how much of the battery. That'll help narrow down the issues as well. Report back and maybe we can help you work through this.

It really shouldn't be as hard as your finding. Something is going on; hopefully it's as simple as a rogue app.

I haven't installed any apps on it since the reset apart from the AC app. If this is a dud device and another would be guaranteed better battery life then I'd swap it but I keep reading very mixed reports on battery life, I'm not convinced a replacement would be better.

I dunno. I'm getting near 18 hours w/4.5 screen on time. Been that way for the 2 months I've had the phone......

I'm a Droid Maxx guy, and it took a lot for me to give up that battery (ie upgrading to the Turbo). But it's adequate for me. I've also taken to putting a small battery in my car so that if I really ran into trouble and I wasn't home to charge I'm covered. Have yet to get close to needing it.

This morning I've lost 10% in an hour just browsing a news reset. I'm resetting it and sending it back to my network. I'm not sure if I'll get another, I might wait for the 2015 phones to be released.

Thanks for all the advice and suggestions.

Dude I really have no idea what's wrong, this is my battery life (small bump is when I was transfering images from phone to pc.
26% battery atm, 3hours of screen time. I do have GPS, Wifi and mobile data on all the time.
Edit.
I also have 3 email addresses connected - gmail, and two other syncing every hour.

i suffer no hardships doing this -

Battery Tips for Android

1. Toggle off High Accuracy GPS Mode, Bluetooth, NFC,
Hotspot/Tethering. Toggle on only as needed. (Set GPS Mode to "Battery
Saving" Mode).
2. Display Brightness - Turn off Auto Brightness and Reduce Setting
Bar to Minimum Acceptable to you.
3. Sign out of any unused Google Services like G+, Google Now, Hangouts, etc.
4. Disable Location Reporting and Location History.
5. Beware of constantly syncing in background Apps and Bloatware like
Facebook, Twitter, Weather Channel, Games, Google News/Weather,
Non-Push Email, etc. Set Sync interval for every 1 hour or more and
change settings to stop the syncing of data you don't need. Delete
their Apps and use their Web Page if acceptable.
6. Turn Off Hot Word "Hotword Detection" Always Listening Mode in
Google Search if you don't use it.
7. Turn Off Auto Camera/Photo Upload or at least set it for Upload on WIFI Only.
8. Turn Off Vibrate on Touch for Display, Keyboard, etc.
9. Turn Off Touch Sounds and Unlock Sounds.
10. Turn Off Ambient Display/Active Display Notifications if you don't need it.
11. Don't use a Live Wallpaper. Use a dark wallpaper if possible.
12. Set Display Sleep Setting to 2 Minutes or Less.
13. WIFI Settings - Advanced -
a. Network Notification - Set as OFF.
b. Scanning Always Available - Set as OFF.
c. Keep WIFI on during Sleep - Set as ALWAYS if you regularly use
WIFI. OK to keep WIFI on if you regularly use it.
14. Turn Off Always Vibrate in Gmail/Email.
15. Be careful of using too many Live Widgets and what/how often they sync.
16. Set MS Exchange Sync at 30 Days or Less if you use it.
17. Do NOT use a Task Killer App or Battery Saver App.
18. Uninstall ALL Apps that you never use. If you haven't used an
App in one month, uninstall it.
19. Reboot your phone at least once a month.
20. Wipe Cache Partition at least once a quarter or after every OS Update.
21. Consider a Factory Data Reset with a manual re-sync, manual
reinstall of all data and Apps after every major OS Letter Update.
Make sure that all of your data is first backed up to Google and
Dropbox, etc.

"I SUFFER NO HARDSHIPS DOING THIS" - this means that i personally am
giving up NOTHING with these tips. i'm not giving up any features.
there are no tradeoffs for me. a tradeoff or a hardship would be to
turn off PUSH email or use AIRPLANE mode during the day etc.

you have to find your own balance and the tips list is a start but you
must come to your own conclusion as to what's important. it's personal
preference but these are not a big deal to me at all as they do not
affect the function or operation of my phone. these tips do not
deteriorate my experience.

I've been doing well (18 hrs/4.5 SOT), but nowhere near your stats. All I can say is "wow".

Are you rooted/ROMd, or stock? If rooted, what ROM/Kernel are you running?

This is a seriously comprehensive list. Thanks.

Rooted on stock rom, nothing else mate.

My experience has been nearly identical to the OP, and I got the phone the day after T-mobile released it.

I did do a factory reset and removed the facebook app....big difference. I am setting at 16 hours since my last charge, 2 hours and 39 mins screen on time, and 25% left.

Way better than it used to be.

Would putting location mode from high accuracy to battery saver make a big difference? I mean, my stats are decent, but some of your stats are a bit more impressive. How does it affect google now? I really enjoy google now integration...it is why I returned my iphone 6+ for the nexus 6.

Best phone I have ever owned.
