Nexus 6 battery after one week

I had a great day for battery life yesterday. The phone lasted a full 24 hours and I put it on the charger at about 20%. I can't get on it at work and I played a few rounds on Two Dots, and checked email, G+, and watched a short YouTube video. I listened to an hour of Google Play Music with the screen off, plugged in to the AUX port on my car stereo streaming over LTE.

I had another day where I played a few 3D games and I had to plug in after 9 hours with almost 4 hours of screen on time.

I have no complaints. This phone charges quickly, so a half hour on the charger will get me through the rest of my day.

I would suggest to send us your battery usage screenshot, it is not normal to have such battery life. There is a hidden app sucks your battery using sync or doing some operations in the BG. Also consider two big battery killers, GPS and Portable Hotspot.

To round this out, I went ahead and got an iPhone 6 Plus. It's a really nice device, the build quality is superb.

I'm coming to the end of my first charge and I have 10% battery left. I've had 9 hours 48 minutes of screen on time and 16 hours 41 minutes standby. That's incredible.

Glad you like your new phone!
Just one thing: wasn't screen on time managed different on iOS? I remember reading that somewhere (saying that those stats shouldn't be compared or something)
For me it's been two weeks with the n6 and I'm more than pleased with it. Best piece of hardware I've ever had!

Have a good day
V.

Not seeing it........ My N6 battery is great..... Of course i am not a big gamer either..... At&t...

To update this, I didn't and couldn't stick it with iOS. I missed widgets, the Play store, and the ability to play with my phone far too much. I sold the iPhone and am now using a Moto G 4g 2015. I'll pick up one of the new flagships soon but will take my time and check out the reviews, etc, first.

Coming from the One M8, where I would consistently get 2 1/2 - 3 1/2 hours SOT, and now I'm averaging 4 - 5 hours SOT, I would say that this battery is more than acceptable...

When you've come from such horrible battery life, anything would be better.

I'm happy with my Nexus 6 battery as well. It has been nice to not have to monitor it.

I'm shocked you of all people would take that stance. Shocked.

What stance? That any phone that gives you better than 2 1\2 hours of SOT would be considered to have better battery life?

It just makes sense doesn't it?

I'm not positive but I wonder if the comment you're responding to wasn't indeed sarcastic.

Some apps will kill your battery. On my Moto X I uninstalled Fox News app and I went from 10% after 15 hours to 45% from that one app.

after reading the HTC m9 review, phil mentioned that clean master is no good, so I listened to the podcast and just uninstalled it. I also learned that surprisingly the AC app drains my battery big time!

If you root your device, there is an app that allows you to turn off updates from your apps. This way you have more control what updates if at all. I can't remember the name of it.

That's your problem right there, fox news will ruin everything.

Just got my Nexus 6 on Saturday and while I know it's still early I haven't been impressed with my battery life at all. The first day I know will suck cause I was setting everything up but yesterday was terrible I took off the charger at 7 am and by 6 pm was dead and I only got 2 hours sot. I'm also stuck on 5.0 right waiting for 5.1 so I hope that will help. I'm coming back to Android after almost 3 years of returning to iOS from Android originally LOL so I've been spoiled with regards to my battery life experience. One thing I've always hated about Android vs iOS is that on all my iPhones when it charges to 100% it stays at a 100% for a really long time especially if it's in standby at one point on my iPhone 5S it stayed at 100% for 8 hours but for example today when I took off my Nexus it dropped to 99% instantly. I want to keep the Nexus as I pretty much got everything on Android set up inline with how I had it on my iPhone 6 pretty much only missing TouchID a little bit but battery life could be the death knell which I don't want cause I'm loving Lollipop and want to stay.

Mmm... I am able to turn off app auto update without rooting or some other apps, isn't this a built in option for play store already?

I understand and I feel your pain. I'm rooting for you and I hope it works out. The iPhone 6+ has epic battery life...not that you want to hear that.
