Nexus 6 battery after one week

I understand and I feel your pain. I'm rooting for you and I hope it works out. The iPhone 6+ has epic battery life...not that you want to hear that.

Oh I know LOL I had a 6+ for a week before downsizing to the 6. You're using a 6+ and a Nexus 6 right?

Just got my Nexus 6 on Saturday and while I know it's still early I haven't been impressed with my battery life at all. The first day I know will suck cause I was setting everything up but yesterday was terrible I took off the charger at 7 am and by 6 pm was dead and I only got 2 hours sot. I'm also stuck on 5.0 right waiting for 5.1 so I hope that will help. I'm coming back to Android after almost 3 years of returning to iOS from Android originally LOL so I've been spoiled with regards to my battery life experience. One thing I've always hated about Android vs iOS is that on all my iPhones when it charges to 100% it stays at a 100% for a really long time especially if it's in standby at one point on my iPhone 5S it stayed at 100% for 8 hours but for example today when I took off my Nexus it dropped to 99% instantly. I want to keep the Nexus as I pretty much got everything on Android set up inline with how I had it on my iPhone 6 pretty much only missing TouchID a little bit but battery life could be the death knell which I don't want cause I'm loving Lollipop and want to stay.

I know the feeling, switch back before its to late. Battery life trumps everything.

Wow can't see the sarcasm there. I knew coming back battery life wouldn't be where it was on iOS and I'm OK with that I'm loving lollipop but its unrealistic that by now battery life should be on par with iOS. I bought a Thunderbolt when that phone first released so I know first hand horrible battery life same with the GNex.

Not being sarcastic. Lollipop is beautiful though.

That's why I want to stay I think that with lollipop Google may have finally caught up with Apple in regards to UI and polish.

I have an iPad and Macbook, so I'm unbiased, but I think Android's UI blows Apple away. Both have there advantages, but they're so different I wouldn't try and compare them. It just comes down to preference.

If you want Android, but something more similar to an iPhone, did you consider trading in the Nexus and preorder the S6? Remove whatever bloat Samsung allows, throw on Google launcher and you're good to go!

No I don't want something similar to my iPhone I love the Nexus. I would never go Samsung for Android I just don't like their phones.

I've had my N6 since January the 4th, not once have I had an issue with the battery life. I can use it all day (including showing off what it can do to my friends) and still be left with a good 30/40% at the end of the day, charge it for less than 40 minutes and the battery is full again, the quick charger is a great compliment to such a large battery capacity. Saying that my last phone was a second hand HTC one x + so I've never really had a phone anywhere near as good to properly compare to.

My wife has a iPhone 6 and her battery isn't significantly better than mine and the only tweak I have done is turn the brightness down a little bit. I'm a power user and haven't had any problems getting 6-8 hours of heavy use

The iPhone 6 plus has the epic battery. It'd make sense to compare nexus 6 battery to the 6 plus and not the 6.

The iPhone 6 has the same screen real estate as the 2013 Moto X but iPhone 6 is still a bigger physical phone. You can't compare the screen quality and battery thought, the iPhone still wins in that regard.

I I was comparing the iPhone plus with the Nexus 6 in have feel, Nexus wins

This was my battery life for my third day guys this sucks! 1 hour 47 mins screen time when I'm reading most people avg 4-5 and some 6-7 this is ridiculous. I've never had good luck with Android when it comes to battery life perhaps one of the reasons I've been reluctant to come back.

I can't imagine people get 6-7 or anywhere close ... I notice a lot of people say they get great battery life, but it's usually in their desk drawer at work all day.

Google made such a huge deal about how great their new software was last summer, so when I saw the 3200 mAh I figured they finally are gonna make a phone that easily lasts all day with heavier use.

Unfortunately, their plan wasn't what it was hyped up to be. Even if some people don't get bad battery life, it's a disappointment compared to Google's expectations.

BTW the gps antenna is one of the fastest ways to suck a battery dry from my experience. Hopefully switching to batt saving mode helps you out.

I disagree , I leave my GPS on 24/7 and ble tooth and I get 24 hrs easily out of my battery.... I put it back on the charger at 9%... My email syncs once a day. Screen at 50%. Rocking 4 widgets .....
N6 att

Your use time is 20 hrs how long do you want? The people who are getting 4 hrs are probably only getting 7 or 8 hours of use time. And you still had 25 percent left. No phone on earth can do much better than that

I was saying that 6-7 SOT is exaggerated (though I haven't heard many people make that claim, was just responding to the post) .... more importantly, 4-5 is rock solid and certainly dispels some of the criticism.

thanks for the screenshot!

isn't that just the phone being idle? android needs to get better with idle drain, that's one area that iPhone has em beat
