Nexus 6: Complaints, bugs & gremlins thread.

After a week with mine, the only thing I don't really like is the power and volume buttons on the right side right about where your thumb is, but I can get used it that.

I'm having a screen flickering issue now. When I unlock the screen, the bottom and top borders darken for less than a second. During this time the screen displays tiny white dots like the pixels are dead in those areas. It then returns to normal. It doesn't last long but is a little irritating. What make it bad is the screen is unusable during this short time.

Mad problems im having with my nexus 6, where to start? Lets see first of all it starts to run very slowly and animations start to jitter, when I am listening to pandora or another music player and I have an app download something in the background like podcasts from pocketcast it starts to stutter and hiss when listening to music, also the volume overall is to low on the nexus 6. Sometimes when I get calls from people the ringtone sounds totally messed up and staticy choppy the sound it totally messed up no matter what ringtone I choose and when I try to answer the phone it starts to crackle bad through the speakers even with headphones on. Speaking of more sound problems popping and crackling sounds randomly happen when using google now or hitting the microphone to activate google now. Battery drain is way insane on this phone, I barely use it and its eating up battery like mad not sure from what.. the amoled screen is almost pinkish when the brightness is down to low and I hear reports of burn ins on the onscreen buttons all though I have not ran into this problem yet. I am going to have to send this back, I had high hopes for this phone and was very excited the first day or two but its looking bad now and im not sure I cant wait on updates to fix these problems that I am running into on a daily basis.

Solved what I thought was actually a bug and thought I might as well post it here in case anybody else was running into the same problem. Originally from the thread Apps you use that are not compatible?

I've had a problem the past week at least where I'd be lucky if my "OK Google"'s were recognized even 20% of them time and when it would there was horrible lag that would usually follow up. I've been terrified something was wrong with the microphone, but it turns out Commandr was causing the problem. I uninstalled it 10 minutes ago and things are back to running flawlessly, one of the top comments for the app brushes over the same thing so hopefully it's something that can be fixed soon (looks like a problem for devices with Always Listening?)

My phone was rooted and had a custom recovery installed. I restored my phone totally back to stock and now the issue is gone so far. Rooting and installing the custom recovery was the only thing that changed before this started happening so I thought I'd investigate that.

Thanks for updating. I'm glad you were able to correct the issue. So are you going to keep the phone stock for now?

Yeah, probably so. I may try it again later when more stable Roms are out and there are no issues. I didn't even install a rom, but there may have been something I could have done in recovery to fix the issue. One thing I've noticed about this Nexus phone is some things are not as easy like in the past.

I don't like the lower location of the power button. I have now restarted my phone twice just holding it. The size is less of an issue than I thought. It still fits in my pocket and there aren't that many apps I was really using one handed.

Like most, I had the Cloud Print stopped problem, even after updating everything. Just ended up disabling the Cloud Print service completely and all is good now.

I have only had the cloud printing stopped error once. I did have several times during my holiday travels when Rhapsody stopped during Google Maps navigation. I wasn't using Rhapsody at the time.

I have noticed that my phone's time always shows about a minute slower than everyone else's phone. No matter the carrier. I have the network time enabled but it still seems to be a minute behind. Anyone else notice this?

I now notice that my phone's time is now showing the same time as everyone else's. I haven't changed any settings at all. Just woke up one day, don't know which day it was but now it shows the correct time.

Only issue I have is I lose my recent apps. When I hit the recent apps button it will only show one until you reboot then it will work again

This just happened today, I have had some random shut off. The phone was sitting on my desk and when I picked it up it was off.

When I first set mine up, I had it restore a backup of apps from my GS4. Not sure if that was a good idea or not because I do have some instability issues:

Wi-Fi regularly turns itself OFF when it should be On. Usually it reports an authentication error with my Asus AP, but if I have it connect again it works fine. Never had problems with this Wi-Fi on my GS4. The nexus doesn't seem to retry connecting.

Also, the phone has randomly crashed three times since I got it. Once after having it less than 24 hours, the rest after 2+ days of use. As part of these crashes I have found that the annoying AT&T startup sound always plays, even when my phone is set to silent mode and also at max volume. Not ideal if it crashes at a time when loud noises are a bad thing.

Last issue is audio quality problems with Bluetooth streaming. It sounds like the audio is playing from the other side of a spinning fan blade. If I turn off BT and then turn it back on the problem corrects itself. This is rare but has occurred twice in the last 1.5 weeks and I use BT streaming a lot.

On the good side I really do like lollipop and the new UI design. The device hardware is good, battery life has gotten better since the first few days (couldn't make it a full day on my GS4, but easily make it more than a day with the Nexus 6). The screen is beautiful and the device is always very fast/responsive.

I can not find anything wrong with this phone. I absolutely could not be happier. I also am on Verizon but have a T-mobile line for bussiness so I added it with a installment plan and simply activated it on Verizon

I keep hearing the Wi-Fi issues are rather extensive but I know about 3 people with Nexus 6's and none of them have that problem
