Nexus 6: Complaints, bugs & gremlins thread.

So is anyone else's recent apps button not working? It shows the animation, vibrates, and nothing happens. I've restarted and it works for about five minutes before going back to non functioning.

I have had two random instances where I have been getting my texts late. About 8 hours or so late. I am on Verizon. Anyone else notice this?

Some issues of my own that I've come across:

Volume gets practically inaudable after like 50%, on speaker... A little weird. Some apps respond differently though to volume levels

Volume seems to change on its own when I'm playing music through the speakers. I'll be in the shower, music blasting, and the song starts off nice and loud, and the volume gets lower. The volume of the next song would vary as well.

When I'm making a phone call and I have speakers plugged in, the mic gets veryyyy iffy. I have to switch between speaker mode once or twice, with my external speakers plugged in, before it works properly.

There's also an issue with the dialer, when I a phone..... There's no backspace. I can't undo any of the numbers I type in, when I'm in a call

One issue I've noticed is just random performance issues. I can play high end, demanding games incredibly smooth with no issues, but then losing a webm or something simple would cause the phone to freeze up. Very rare, but its happened...

As I type this, the vibrate/haptic feedback is on. Cool. BUUUT if I type too fast, I can hear a click, like if something inside is hitting something it shouldn't be....

Also while on the subject of vibrate, the thing is powerful... With no way to adjust, AFAIK.

The volume settings/ notifications are kind of backwards, but I've gotten it to work how I want.

Not really a phone problem, I think its with lollipop, but things like webm with no sound still inturruot my music. What I've always liked about android is that I can restart the music with something else playing as well though, but if I switch the webm, then it happens again lol.

I don't want to root just yet, but I wouldn't mind turning off the peak screen or whatever (so used to calling it Glance screen, as a lumia 920 owner lol) for the notification light, which is oddly disabled.

After using my lumia for 2 years, I don't like how bad this phone is in low light, compared to the 920. It also makes the face unlock a bit iffy.

My only other issue isn't exactly with the phone itself, but the fact that Closed framework is currently/ most likely will always be unavailable for the nexus 6

Has anyone figured out a solution to the fading of loud speaker audio playback for videos and music on the Nexus 6?

So I'm not crazy/ have a defective phone!
I've noticed this a lot! Not entirely bad, as I only use the speaker while I shower, and those late night YouTube videos, but i caught on to that happening, only my second night of using the phone

I got a call today, and dismissed it. But it kept vibrating. And vibrating. And vibrating. Then it stopped, until I press a button. Anytime I touched the screen, a ridiculous vibration. Not that haptic feedback stuff either. Had to restart my phone.

I was debating getting a G3 when I got this phone. Figured I'd give it the two week period. It was great for about a month. Now it's been messing up so much lately.

So I'm not sure if my problem is because I left the us and am in Kenya ( that's when it started) but when I go to use my camera my phone shuts off. It has started doing when I use other apps also. Anyone having this issue?

Hey guys, I am having an issue with my phone. It doesn't seem to be auto rotating to landscape. It did so yesterday with ease, but this morning when it was powered on it didn't. I have auto rotate on and the landscape mode enabled in my settings. I've already tried turning my device off so I'm not sure what's going on. Anyone else have this issue?

Text messages fail

I have noticed text messages will start to fail after the phone has been booted for a while. They will take a long time and say sending. And then they just fail. I do not use SMS with Hangouts. A phone reboot clears the problem. This is a major flaw and I'm really tired or it.

I've noticed this too, in fact it is happening right now, several reboots didn't fix problem for me. This is I think about the third time it has happened , is it the default app or AT&T ?

Re: Nexus 6: Complaints, bugs & gremlins thread.

I switched to the iPhone 5 when it came out, and now that my time is up, came back to Android for the Nexus 6. iPhone was not for me, and I'm a big Mac user.

Problems I've run into so far:
1. Random shut down/restarts, often while on the phone.
This happen to me once. I figure it was my brand new case.
2. Sometimes it won't respond when I try to answer the phone, which leads to missed calls.
I can see that happening. I hear it ring, but it doesnt come on to answer.
3. When trying to answer the phone, and it won't answer, I lose the notification and have to fight my way back to the phone app.
4. Sound is iffy. Sometimes it rings, sometimes it's staticy, sometimes sound starts way late.
This happens alot. Its like something is fighting the audio channels for space.
5. Camera app stinks, but that's an app issue, I guess. I just downloaded another.
6. Camera is dark in hangouts. Fine in other apps, though.
7. Laggy camera.
8. Button placement on the side is awful. I keep restarting my phone.
9. Notification sounds even when sound is off, and I'm not using the notification/priority settings--just volume. WHY? I understand the idea behind the notification settings, and I like it. But if I simply use the volume button, that should just turn off all sound. If I need to not have notifications or just priority notifications, I will use notifications to control it. Otherwise, please continue to show the notification on my screen for crying out loud! Just make the phone silent when I turn the volume down. (Watch, because I got indignant, I'll find out I'm just doing it wrong. heh.)
10. Notifications don't always respond. I tap it, and it just hangs there.
this as well...

It seems to me that most of these are problems that will likely get addressed with updates, so I'm not freaking out yet. I haven't run into anything that I really just hate like I did with the iPhone. As far as I can tell after using the phone for a couple weeks now, any other issues I have are just issues from adjusting to the operating system again. I ordered a case that I'm hoping will alleviate the button problem, since that's a done deal--no fix coming for that.

That's all I can think of right now. I did a factory reset, so we'll see if that changes anything. I haven't received 5.0.1 yet.

Im on 5.0.1 and most of the issues I am experiencing .

Hi, I got the Nexus 6 about a week ago and have experienced two pretty major bugs. I am on T-Mobile (UK) and running the latest version of lollipop 5.0.0.1 or whatever it is (it has a one at the end.)

The first is with phone calls, every so often when i receive a call it either won't accept the call, so it rings out, OR it picks up but I get no sound or anything from the person on the other end. I have not been able to establish whether or not the person on the other end can hear me or not as I am not able to tell who it was that was phoning me. This tends to sort itself out after a restart.

The other one is an issue with what i believe is the front camera. I get the Could not connect to camera error. I have tried the solutions i found on google (clear data, force stop, clear cache etc, restart) nothing works. I can use the rear camera with no issue, but when i press the button to flip it round the camera crashes. It also refuses to work with whatsapp as well.

Other than that I am loving it!

Re: Nexus 6: Complaints, bugs & gremlins thread.

I noticed if I go to the mobile networking settings and have it it on lte/3g if I leave a 4g area, 3g works ok. If I put the toggle specifically on 3g it shows I have 3g, but anytime I tried to search google or access a data connection the signal goes away and gives me the signal with an exclamation point. I tried finding info on this, but didn't see anything when I searched. Anyone else have this issue? I am on Sprint with the 64gb white device

Pretty disappointed with my nexus 6 - scrolling in web browsers (chrome, dolphin, Firefox) is incredibly slow - very frustrating lag! I've upgraded from a nexus 4 - the nexus 4 is much smoother and more responsive in most operations. I've removed a bunch of apps and now have minimal running.

I also have frequent random reboots.

Not sure what the problems could be.

Any advice appreciated - might have to send it back and reconsider.

Stoyleg, there is absolutely no way a Nexus 4 can be faster than the Nexus 6. What do you get when you run the speedtest app? Browser speed has everything to do with Internet speed.

Sorry but I have compared my old nexus 4 with the nexus 6 and scrolling in web browsers is significantly smoother. I'm not talking about connection speed here I'm talking about the smoothness of scrolling through web pages as well as some other apps (eg Facebook) - the nexus 6 is terrible - it stutters really badly in all browsers. There must be something wrong but I don't know what as I have hardly any other apps installed.

Very disappointed!
