Nexus 6 or wait for Motorola's Nexus 6 lookalike?

Even though the s6 has better specs? I've never owned a Samsung or nexus device before so both are new lines to me

Nexus doesn't need the best specs because it's not bloated down with skins and bloatware. it's pure Google Android.

That's probably the primary reason I'm looking at it. Having giant hands and not being happy with small phones helps too haha

The S6 at least is a real spec upgrade in CPU (it's not the 810), but as others have said you probably won't notice the difference in day to day use. So then it just comes down to your preferences - the S6 has a better camera - both the speed of the camera and how well it performs under difficult lighting conditions (this isn't a knock on the excellent N6 camera, the S6 one just happens to be about the best camera you can get in a phone), while the N6 has better battery life. The colors of the S6 screen are more accurate, but the N6 has a larger screen. The S6 has a fingerprint scanner, but it has archaic physical button as a result. Touchwiz isn't as awful as it used to be, but unadulterated Android and quick updates can be found on the N6.

I don't think anyone can tell you which of those features means more to you, but I'd be sure to weigh those issues more heavily than the date the devices were released.

Thanks for the help guys. I got a Nexus. The screen size and faster updates won out along with not having any bloatware from big red.

While I do have the Moto X 2013 and the Moto X 2014,and they are great( no Nexus phone listed on vzw at that time)
However , Since now a Nexus is now listed on Vzw .I went with the Nexus 6 since it became available on Vzw too.:)

Is the Nexus 6 from Verizon the same as the one from Google , other than the Verizon logo on it ? The one at Verizon is $50.00 dollars less than the one from Google.

same exact phone except there's Verizon branding on the back. personally i would only buy from Play Store because i don't like carrier branding.

Hopefully they make a Moto X phablet. That would be best. Good hardware and all the goodness of the Moto X.

Takes 2 minutes of light scrubbing with the side of a paper clip or fingernail to remove the Verizon logo, so I personally think think 2 minutes of work is worth pay $50 less for a phone.

I can't change your mind on that one. All I can say is it took me two minutes, and the only time I remember it was there if I choose to, I did this about a week ago.

A month ago I would have said that's what the Nexus 6 basically is, but comparing it my wife's Moto X I agree that some of the Motorola features that are missing are pretty nice - especially their version of lock screen notifications and the wave to see them feature. Moto Assistant is also pretty nice, though much of that functionality can be had via Google Play.

Go for the Nexus 6, why wait. Google pure Android is the way to go.

Went and got the Nexus 6 today, loving it, Gave my wife the Moto x I had, she's had a flip phone forever. My daughter and I talked her into the smart phone.

I second or 3rd the notion of a Moto X Phablet, that would be great, chances are Moto would put a pretty beefy battery in it as well, something I think the Nexus could have done better with. I really do miss my "twist to open" camera. I use that all the time. I also would like to customize my moto voice to "Hey Jarvis" or something, #nerdalert

I may want to eat my words, if I hold it in bright light, at the right angle, I can see a faint trace of it. Like a very faint watermark. So I guess I could see where people are coming from.

You do realize that you can change your "OK Google" to whatever you want right? I changed mine quite a while back. It still would be nice to have the extra Moto voice capabilities though. I would also love a Moto X 6"er.

Who is this directed to? If its directed to me, with the Nexus, u can only have it be ok google.

I have the nexus 6 and have it voice trained to a different term. Problem is, it works perfect with the phone locked, unlocked it is hit and miss whereas the phrase "ok google" works every time. So when the phone is locked I use the phrase which I voice trained and is unique to my phone, and when the phone is unlocked I use "OK Google." It's pretty handy having a voice term that no one else would be able to guess to open up the phone while it's locked.

Go into "Ok Google" detection and retrain your voice model, it does not have to be "OK Google"
