Nexus 6/Shamu by Motorola?

The bezels really aren't bad, but yeah, it's impossible to use one handed.

...but then again, I think the s5 is kinda hard to use one handed

Damn. I might have to give it a miss then. Just sounds way too big for me.

The HTC One M8 is about the extent of the size of a device I'd like to use. While the M8 is tall, it's not excessively wide, so that's not so bad. with the Nexus 6 or X or whatever it's going to be called having a 6" screen, I don't know how they can keep it usable with one hand.

Devastating... For me at least. Been using the Note series since the first one and my now current Note 3 is just too much at this point. Mainly because I can't hide it under the flap of my shirt pocket anymore. Was really looking forward to trying out the next Nexus device after reading all the positive reviews on previous models, provided they kept it under 5.5". Not to mention, wanting stock Android and ditching Sammy's bloat and gimmicks which I don't even use.

Oh well... Nexus 5 it is, I suppose

Nothing is official till it is on Google play and you can purchase it.
But 5.9" sounds way to big for me.

Yes, stereo. If you look at the leaked X+1 image, Shamu looks just like a stretched version of the black X+1. One of the X+1's speaker grills is fake, but they are stereo on the Moto Nexus.

Color me naive, but this is my first time in this forum and I've just read that this phone will SUPPOSEDLY be on Verizon and it looks like you have claimed it's confirmed. Back to my, "naivety", how can you confirm this or where have you read it? Do you have an inside scoop that we are unfortunate to have? Sorry, I'm excited for a Nexus device on Verizon's network and might actually keep me there so I'm just a little more than curious lol.

Best service, not best phone selection but the X +1 and Nexus will make it significantly better.

It's testing on Verizon. Sounds like they are open to it anything can happen between now and launch. But I don't think the nexus 4 or 5 was even tested on Verizon (at least I don't remember any rumors) so I would think that's a good sign

His buddy is a moto tester. And so far his scoop on the x+1 has been pretty accurate.

Right on and very cool. Thanks for the info. I figured w/ the Nexus 7 coming to Verizon, the door was opening for a Nexus device and has me holding out hope. From the sound of it, this phone will be very beefy and it has certainly captivated my interest. The X+1 had it until now although it's still certainly not out of the picture.

Thanks again for the info and thanks to guy w/ the inside scoop. Always cool to hear about stuff prior to it's release.

Remember the nexus 5 was based on the lg g2 which had a 5.2" display, google scaled that back to a 4.95" display. Maybe the moto that they are testing/leaked is the Motorola version of the phone and google will scale the nexus version back to a smaller screen as well. And maybe the one they tested for Verizon is not the nexus but the moto version as well. Also read that the Verizon version will not have the nexus moniker but instead will be called the moto s. But again this is all rumor, so we will just have to wait and see..

I just feel its far too close to release date for them to still be testing on versions while planning on releasing a different one. And from the guy with the moto buddy, it sounds like its a pretty done deal and the testing is close to a final version. Couple that with TK Tech's leaks they received from best buy showing screen sizes and what PhoneArena has been posting, I think still hoping for a <5.9" screen is a stretch. Id welcome it, but I'm growing more and more weary each day. Picked up an LG G2 for $100 and rooted it last night to hold me over until whenever something happens..

the Nexus X with a 6" display is going to be so sweet.

The original Note rocked 5.3 inches, the Note 2 showed up with a 5.5-inch display and the Note 3 pushed things to 5.7 inches. Going by this logic the Galaxy Note 4 should come with a 5.9-inch display, which would see it match the HTC One Max and LG G Pro 2, while still falling short of the 6.4-inch Sony Xperia Z Ultra. And Galaxy Mega at 6.3”.

also - my guess is that one U.S. version will support all U.S. GSM/CDMA/LTE bands. it's 2015 and those evil bastards at Verizon have no choice but to allow BYOD. they have fought very hard against being just a "dumb pipe". they want so bad to retain the proprietary power and control.

Oh, I didn't see the best buy leak. Not sure if I'll upgrade from my nexus 5 for this upcoming nexus. I mean, I like that they're giving moto a shot at it, and the rumored specs look awesome, but I still love my nexus 5 and want to get my moneys worth out of it seeing as I just got it 6 months ago in February.

my strategy has been to skip every other Nexus (hence upgrade every 2 years) (G-Nex--->Nexus 4(SKIP)--->Nexus 5) but a 6" display is probably going to sway me toward upgrading to the Nexus X.

Sounds like a good plan, was what I was thinking of doing, think 2 years per phone is a good cycle.

The 6" screen rules it out for me. I'll buy an n5 once the price drops. I'm still not completely sure whether I'll keep my n4 and give the n5 to the wife or vice versa (I still enjoy my n4 immensely).

Wonder if Google will have a fire sale like they did with the nexus 4 when the 5 was about to be announced. Or you might want to check swappa if you don't mind buying a used phone. Can get one for under 300 bucks. We got my girlfriend the nexus 4 16 gig for $160 off that site, was in great condition, she loves it.

The note 4 will retain the 5.7 size. Otherwise it would canabalize the mega.

Possibly two screen sizes for the new Nexus?? What is everyone's thoughts there?

I think that's likely since it's an industry trend but we may not see an updated Nexus 5. That phone doesn't feel out of date at all (I've had one since December and I'd keep it even if I bought the Nexus 6.)

no. Nexus is a different animal than the mass market devices. it's a reference design/Developer device first. two display sizes increases the R&D and production/supply chain/distribution/marketing costs and complexities. This goes against Google's mission of keeping their costs and thus the price low. my bet is that they continue to keep it simple with one display size. I see no value relative to the added cost and complexities. They will keep it simple IMO. They won't lose significant sales at 6" to their target market - Developers and enthusiasts. They will gain them.

And maybe the Nexus 5 sticks around as the smaller phone.
