Nexus 6/Shamu by Motorola?

Pocket now is sticking with the 5.2 rumor today. Time will tell.

IMO, everyone should be using nano in 2014.
Is there really a reason not to? Wouldn't nano save room and there for be a good thing? I had to go get a sim going to the g3 from the moto x. No big deal but annoying

Hmm, didn't know LG put their markup on the devices. I assumed they made it and covered the costs and let Google sell it. Guess not.

If I remember correctly, the Nexus devices didn't always have a subsidy. They used to be expensive, just like any other phone. That changed with the Samsung Galaxy Nexus. It launched at a high price, but the price dropped down for the GSM model during that year's Google I/O.

So now everyone is expecting all Nexus devices to be cheap. I'm not sure how sustainable that would be for Google. They may decide to stop subsidizing the Nexus line at any time.

the question is will i be swapping the micro SIM from my Nexus 5 into my Nexus X on launch day or will i be driving to the AT&T store for a nano SIM that day. my guess is the latter.

economies of scale help too. both in production scale and also the revenue/profit/importance that Android generates for Google today vs. back during the Nexus One days. in theory - Google has a lot more money to play with from the Android division today than yesterday and they can "afford" to subsidize it more if not just in an accounting sense but also a strategic sense.

Maybe the Nexus X will break that habit? If Nexus devices become more and more popular, how much money is Google winning to lose on them with the subsidy?

Being half right also makes you half wrong.

Nobody doubts that a new Nexus phone is on the way. The question is everything else.

What do you mean half right? Here's the post from TK Tech News on the 25th Aug: (Exclusive) Moto Luge images specs and price for Verizon | TK Tech News

Posted the info 3 days prior to release, posted the name, specs, picture, and the exact release day. Was spot on. To me, that gives the site a fair bit of credibility. I didn't hear of any other website posting about the Luge prior to TK Tech News.

Not saying everything TK posts will be 100% accurate, but clearly they have someone on the inside of Motorola who is feeding them correct information.

If Google jacks the Nexus Phone price up to the carriers unsubsidized price for a comparable phone, then that would more or less defeat the purpose of the Nexus program.

The purpose of the nexus program is to provide subsidized phones to the masses?

if the Nexus X has a 6" display i will probably upgrade from my 4.95" Nexus 5. if it's 5.2" i will probably not barring any new amazing feature which is as of yet unannounced. i'll just skip it and wait for the next one in October 2015. 6" display would make it a worthy upgrade.

Right about the product existing, wrong about the date. That was my only point. Claiming 100% accuracy when that's not what you have is.....well......wrong.

I'm excited about the next Nexus, but I'm not chasing all the rumors. It happens when it happens.

Better battery life will draw me. It always does.
