Nexus 6P Ambient Display like Moto display?

So in a technobuffalo video, Josh (?) mentions that if you wave your hand over the nexus 6p, it activates the ambient display feature.

This got me very excited, since this is the only feature I'm going to miss from my Moto X, so I've been scouring the interwebs for evidence of this. I haven't found anything, so have anyone seen or heard anything about this?

They did a quick demo of it onstage at the announcement in SF. I presume it'll be similar to what's already offered on the N6.

You're right, i seem to recall him picking up the device as well as the ambient display being activated. I was expecting that, however i wasn't expecting the possibility of being able to wave your hand over the sensors to get the same response. I'm skeptical, but if it's true, then I can't wait!
